Kerry, Wyden, Schumer to Hold Enery Bill Press Conference Today

Senators Say Energy Bill Fails Americans

Today – Thursday, July 28 – Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.), Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will hold a press conference to take on the energy bill which has returned from conference committee.

The latest version of the energy bill is a significant departure from the bipartisan legislation passed out of the Senate this year. The conference committee stripped several key provisions from the bill, including one that would have saved a million barrels of oil a day, one addressing climate change, and one requiring the use of renewable energy sources for a small percentage of electricity. The Senate may vote on the energy bill as early as this week.
