Stephen Colbert “Interviews” An All Too Typical GOP Politician

If anyone didn’t catch Comedy Central’s Colbert Report last night, you missed a classic “interview”. Stephen Colbert interviewed what today sadly passes for a typical GOP politician.

The last part of the interview where they discuss the Ten Commandments is absolutely hilarious! You’ll love how this idiot answers both of Stephen’s questions. And yet, some Americans actually continue to vote for these people. Simply amazing…

Tip of the hat to CrooksAndLiars for providing the video clip of Colbert’s interview of Congressman Westmoreland of GA’s 8th district. The “rough transcript” they include only contains a tiny fragment of the Ten Commandments portion, so skip it and just watch the video.

It just goes to show how clueless some of these elected representatives are when it comes to doing an interview like this. Apparently his staff didn’t even check it out.

Uh, would it really do any good to have

Do not testify as a false witness against your neighbor.

in the chambers? Couldn’t they just do the “S/he’s not my neighbor” duck?

In reading that section, it’s interesting to note that God wanted the humans to set aside the Sabbath as a day of rest and worship of their Lord. And this was supported by the idea that God had created the world in 6 days and rested on the seventh.

Don’t the Creationists argue that those “days” don’t necessarily mean the same as our days?

It sounds to me like God considered them the same.

Dave from Princeton, thanks for the post.

Congressman do-nothingness forgot to do something with his crooked blue tie and crumpled white shirt look. Seems like “Be Prepared” was certainly not on his overall interview agenda. Enjoyed the laffs.
