Blanco Loses her Mind: Divorce Waits Extended

I don’t know what to say about my Governor these days. I guess we are a lot better off than what California has to put up with. But for Gods sake, I really think Blanco has lost her freaking mind! First let me say that if you have a marriage that has gone bad, and you come to find out that your spouse is the George Bush or Ann Coulter of marriages, you want out ASAP! But Blanco has seen fit to extend the time for divorces to a year for married couples with children under 18. I’m sure divorce lawyers are happy about it, and will make the most of the extra 6 months, while you get billed for it.

Blanco agrees to extend wait for divorces

Married couples with children under 18 soon will have to wait a year before they can get a divorce — rather than six months — after Gov. Kathleen Blanco signed legislation doubling the wait time for couples with minor children.

The bill by Rep. Ernie Alexander, R-Lafayette, extends the current six month waiting period unless there are allegations of adultery, physical abuse or sexual abuse. Childless couples and couples with children 18 and older can get divorced after a 180-day waiting period.

And speaking of lawyers:

Supporters of Alexander’s law, which will take effect Jan. 1, said the longer waiting period is designed to give couples more time to reconsider their action. But critics said the extra six months will only increase the time that couples bicker and boost the fees paid to divorce lawyers.

I am at a lost for words, on how to react to her as of late. She has me baffled and I really don’t know what to think. First the Abortion bill, and now this. Has Blanco lost her mind?

What the? I’m wondering if she got knocked on the head during Katrina?

  2. I just don’t know Pamela. It’s like I said, I think she has lost her mind!

Blanco used to be Lt.Governor: The LT Gov of Lousiana is over tourism and little else.

  4. OK Darth, Somehow I know I’m gonna regret this, but what the hell does that have to do with it?

  5. This is idiotic…

Donnie/Pamela, I assume she’s pandering to the fake “family values” types who dislike government, except when they can get it to legislate their religious beliefs? Well could be them and divorce lawyers too I guess.

Hey, how about if a couple divorces after 6 months and later decides they didn’t want to be divorced from each other, they just got remarried?

Nah, it’s better for the children to have Mom and Dad fighting longer and more bitterly due not being able to get things settled and running up legal fees. Yep, that’s seems much better…

  6. Yep, I think you pegged it right Dave.

  7. Darth Malice says:

Sounds like she has indeed lost her mind. Every time I read stupid stuff like this I’m glad I live in CA AND that I’m not married.
