So Was it Car Bombs or Not?

Someone needs to take a refresher course on fibbing 101. You would think that will all the practice that this administration has with telling tall tales, that it would just flow real easy like. Well not according to this story.

U.S. blames Iraq blast on hostile act
Car bombs triggered gas explosions in a Shiite neighborhood two days ago, the U.S. said Tuesday, acknowledging that the attack was due to a hostile act.

At least 63 Iraqis were killed and 140 wounded in the series of explosions Sunday night in Zafraniyah. Iraqi officials said the blasts were due to car bombs and a rocket attack from a Sunni neighborhood under U.S. control.

But U.S. military spokesman, Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, insisted Monday that American experts had concluded that there was “no evidence” of anything other than a “significant gas explosion.”

That implied that the blast may not have been due to a hostile act.

Ok now folks, do you get that? It was implied that a hostile act was not responsible for the explosion. Fair enough right? Those experts should know by all means. But hold the phone buddy!! Something is wrong with this picture.

However, a U.S. statement Tuesday said the blasts were triggered when two car bombs detonated near a residential building, “causing a gas explosion” that collapsed the structure.

It said the blast was among four car bombs that took place within a 30-minute period and within two miles of one another.

Two car bombs? Four car bombs? So which one was it? Also worthy of note, is that the US statement never mentioned rocket attacks. Hmmm, I smell a rat here. So maybe this has something to do with it.

“From the extent of the damage and some of the remains, it is clear that the explosions were caused by bombs and rockets,” Abu al-Ula said. “What the Americans are saying is not correct. Maybe they are trying not to shoulder responsibility because the rockets were fired from Dora where there is heavy U.S. deployment.”

Someone has some explaining to do. First one statement, and then something that goes against it. Then the Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman calling “Bushit” on the claims. Now I know that the USS GOP is a fast sinking ship, but are they so bad off now, that they are even forgetting how to lie? Well I doubt that, but someone might get sent in for a refresher course with this one.

They seem to get more oblivious by the day. You would think at some point they would not be able to function.

This does sound a lot like what happened in Bosnia – only there it was the local governments creating the propaganda and the media lapping it up.

  2. Ginny,

Funny how they just don’t want to admit to the failure.
