What can be said about yet another grim statistic from the tragedy that is Iraq? The US military deaths have reached 101, with another day left in a month. Iraqi casualties are considered underestimated despite a new record of 1170.

Ten years ago, the UN started a campaign to halve world hunger by 2015. The assessment at this point is sadly showing little real progess except in percentage of world population. The real numbers have actually increased by 4 million a year.

Last Thursday I took the morning off from work to attend Senator Kerry’s rally with PA-08 Democratic Congressional candidate and Iraq war veteran Patrick Murphy, along with a few hundred other lucky and very excited people. It was a cold windy morning outside on the Student Center Terrace of Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA but it sure didn’t cool off the crowd’s spirits!
