The Moral Degenerate Award

Cross Posted From Article of Faith:

I think I’m going to institute a new award over at AoF, called the Moral Degenerate of the Day Award. Basically, the criteria is rather simple: if you trumpet “morals” and “family values”, putting yourself above everyone else, then you act in a hypocritical way contrary to those things, you are eligible to receive this award.

So, our first award goes to Republican Representative Chris Cannon of Utah, for these stunning comments on the Foley/page scandal:

“Frankly, this is the responsibility of the parents. If you get online you may find people who are creepy. There are creepy people out there who will do and say creepy things. Avoid them. That’s what you have to do. And maybe we can say that a little more to the pages.

“You know, these kids are actually precocious kids. It looks like, just maybe, this one email was just a prank, just a bunch of kids sitting around, egging this guy on, you know. So, uh, the world’s a complicated place, and we just have to do the best we can.”

LOL. Congratulations Rep. Cannon, you are the AoF Moral Degenerate of the Day.

  1. Sounds like a good choice for the day to me.

Very good award Todd. As Kuttner pointed out, Foley was an accident waiting to happen.
Like all the other accidents before and yet to come.
Iwill keep a watch on my favorite reps (Young, Tancredo, Musgrave) and senators (Stevens and Allard). One of them will surely qualify one of these days..
