“A true measure of a man is how you handle victory and how you handle defeat, so in ’94 Floridians chose to rehire the governor. They took note of his worthy opponent, who showed what decency he had,” Bush said before again [breaking down and uncontrollably] sobbing.”
Based on where it came in the speech, when discussing defeat, all three men said last night on Countdown or Scarborough that it seemed Bush was weeping more for the massive, failed presidency of his idiot oldest son, and how the son who was supposed to be president, Jeb, will probably never get his shot, now that W. has ruined the Bush name for a generation.
I’m not sure I completely agree with that, but you know who we have to thank for this? FLORIDA. If the voters of that state had voted Jeb in the first time in ’94, W. would never have run for the White House in ’00. The entire family fortune was on Jebby getting elected governor of Florida in ’94, getting re-elected in ’98 and then jumping to the WH in ’00.
When Jeb crashed and burned, the spotlight shifted to the Doofus in Texas, who wasn’t supposed to win in Texas that year and who was not supposed to even run in ’00 (but thanks again to Florida and the Supreme Court, ran and won).
Moore said last night that Poppy was weeping for the disaster his oldest son has created in the middle east, the stain he has created on the presidency, and how the truly favored son, Jeb, will probably never get his shot at the seat Poppy had been grooming him for in the first place.
Moore argues that George W. never really wanted to be president and did it more out of obligation (hence the contentious relationship between the two presidents Bush the past six years). It’s why he’s blown off advice from the old man his entire presidency (up until now that is), rubbed his face in getting re-elected, claimed “he’s the wrong father” to appeal to, etc., etc.
When Moore said “in other words, George W. never really wanted the presidency,” Olbermann cracked, “then it’s unanimous.”
You think the Kennedy saga is a “Greek tragedy”? Wait till the final chapter on the Bush clan is written.
