“Out of Sight”

Cross posted from Article of Faith:

Sad news to start this xmas morn: James Brown, “Godfather of Soul”, dead at 73: ATLANTA (AP) — James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured ”Godfather of Soul,” whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap, funk and disco as well, died early Monday, his agent said. He was 73.”

“His hit singles include such classics as ”Out of Sight,” ”(Get Up I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine,” ”I Got You (I Feel Good)” and ”Say It Loud — I’m Black and I’m Proud,” a landmark 1968 statement of racial pride.”

“Sex Machine” may be the single, funkiest, foot-stomping song/performance ever recorded. And of course, the guy was a pioneer and legend in both rock n roll and civil rights.

RIP, James….yooooowwww.

James gave us a lot. Rev Jesse Jackson summed this up pretty well. Brown was always the showman. Passing away on Christmas would be the final bow. RIP James Brown.
