Al Gore isn’t so lonely anymore

The following is an Email from Sen. Chuck Schumer asking for us to help congratulate Al Gore on his Oscar Nomination. Thank you and congrats Al Gore for a well deserved nomination.

For years, Al Gore waged a long and often lonely battle to raise awareness about global warming.

Well, Al isn’t so lonely anymore.

An Inconvenient Truth has brought the single most important environmental issue of our time to the forefront. Because of Al’s work, the debate in America has shifted. The question is no longer, “Does global warming exist?” but rather, “What are we going to do to stop it?”

Now, this groundbreaking film has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary. On February 25, we’ll see if An Inconvenient Truth gets its due, but in the meantime, I want to invite you to join me in congratulating Al Gore for his extraordinary achievement.

Surely, An Inconvenient Truth is only a starting point. For those of us dedicated to fighting climate change, our toughest battles are ahead of us. There are still powerful special interests who seek to downplay the threat of global warming.

But I can guarantee that our Democratic-led Congress will make fighting global warming one of our top priorities. I am sure that Al will be one of the driving forces keeping everyone focused on making our planet safe for future generations.

Sen. Chuck Schumer

Thanks for posting this. What a nice nod of support from DSCC. I sent my good wishes.

  2. Pamela, I thought that was pretty cool myself. What with the infighting going on and the others making fools of each other, I just had to slip in a run Al, RUN! I know it was tacky, but something has to give. I do believe he would be our best chance. Alas, he would have to want it.

I don’t think he wants it though. I thought the statement he made last week, that i quoted in my post yesterday was the strongest statement I have seen from him about running again.

He’s certainly got it all over the rest of the pack though. With JK, I would think Al would be our best bet after seeing the mud slinging today.

Keeping my fingers crossed that he gets that little Oscar statue!

I am happy to have him get an Oscar. I am happy to have him get a Nobel Prize. I do not want him to be the Democratic candidate and I don’t want him to be president. He gave away the election he ran and we ended up with Bush because of it. Haven’t forgiven him for that and I doubt that I ever will.

I’ll vote for him if he is the Democratic candidate because I am going to vote Democratic … but that’s it.
