Note to John Cole of Balloon Juice: Welcome to the Party, the Democratic Party that is. Now that you’ve become the “Newest Member of the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy,” it’s great to see that you’ve jumped right in with both feet and have made a splashing entrance (I’ll get to that in a moment). Cole says on Balloon Juice, he had “meant to re-register independent (or as it is known here in West Virginia, “No Party Affiliation”) for the past two weeks after I had finally had enough of the bullshit during the Graeme Frost escapade, but never got around to it.” I had to pick up a registered letter for an unrelated issue, so I went to the Court … Continue reading →
I didn’t watch the Dem debate last night, but there sure is plenty to read about it today, as the media and the blogs are all opining on it and th etopic du jour is the Clinton Pile-on (which was incredibily tacky). Chris Cillizza of the WaPo’s The Fix has his usual Winners and Losers piece up in the debate, and he leads of with this: The Fix grew up a HUGE fan of professional wrestling. So, it was with a mixture of fascination and glee that we watched last night’s Democratic presidential debate, which resembled nothing so much as an out and out brawl. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) spent the first hour of the debate fending off shots from … Continue reading →
My daughter who is in her first year at college, called last night to tell me there was an earthquake up in Northern California. The L.A. Times reports: A magnitude 5.6 earthquake centered in the foothills east of San Jose rocked the Bay Area on Tuesday night, shaking up residents over a broad area but producing no immediate reports of significant damage, officials said.
There’s a sad piece of news on the one of the SoCal wildfires today. A boy playing with matches was responsible for the Agua Dulce area fire. Officials blamed a wildfire that consumed more than 38,000 acres and destroyed 21 homes last week on a boy playing with matches, and said they would ask a prosecutor to consider the case. The boy, whose name and age were not released, admitted to sparking the fire on Oct. 21, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Diane Hecht said Tuesday. Ferocious winds helped it quickly spread.
Oh my! It’s all Hallow’s Eve and I’ve got my checklist here to make sure that this Halloween goes off without a hitch. As soon as I verify that everything is ready, then we’ll get started with the Round-up. Pumpkin? Check! Little Stevie got his “Commander Guy” costume on? Check! Little Richie got his “Ru Paul” costume on? Check! Skeletons in the closet? Check! Mummified Remains? Check! Spooky Old Bat? Check! “Scary” music? Check! Let’s add a few more goodies like this, this, this and that. Then, let’s shake it up! Now, we are ready for Ten Post Halloween Round-Up! From The Democratic Daily: Stephen Colbert Trumps Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich in Presidential Poll: I gotta say, the results … Continue reading →
Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Yet another Republican has been caught in a sex scandal. Is it something in their Kool Aid I wonder, because this is just becoming an epidemic with these folks. Of course, “State Representative Richard Curtis” who “dressed up in women’s lingerie and met a Medical Lake man in a local erotic video store which led to consensual sex at a downtown hotel” says, you guessed it, “he’s not gay.” A search warrant unsealed Tuesday morning disclosed that State Representative Richard Curtis (R – La Center) had sex in his room at the Davenport Tower with a man identified as Cody Castagna, 26, of Medical Lake, who he met at the Hollywood Erotic Boutique on … Continue reading →
Last night I posted a little something about Ron Paul here, perhaps for the first time, and a few of his supporters were not too pleased. I’m not a Ron Paul enthusiast, I must admit, and clearly as readers know I’m a liberal Democrat, who has never voted outside the party. So for all of Ron Pau’s appeal to some, he doesn’t appeal to me. That’s the bottomline and I don’t think he has a chance, as I said last night to even make it out of the starting gate in the primary process. That said, apparently in the latest Rasmussen Reports Poll, voters would go for Stephen Colbert over both Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich. Now Kucinich, I like, … Continue reading →
Bruce Springsteen currently has the No 1 album in the charts, he’ll probably be up for a Grammy for the Best Album of the Year, and his tour is sold out across the country, but even still Republican owned, censor machine Clear Channel is out to pull The Boss from the airwaves. Readers here know, I’m a big Springsteen fan and I have written about him here more than a few times over the years, so I gotta say, this really ticks me off. Big time. Clearly Bruce Springsteen’s latest, ‘Magic’ has got the Noise Machine in a huff. Could it be because of this cut of the album, Last To Die, inspired by John Kerry: I long ago gave … Continue reading →
