Politico has uncovered documents via New York’s Freedom of Information Law that show that while he was mayor of New Your City, Rudy Giuliani “billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan in the […]

Senator Chris Dodd has a comprehensive and timely proposal for Bankruptcy Reform. As we all know the last ‘reform’ was a disaster for the average family in trouble. Now with the housing downturn the last ‘reform’ is a financial death knell for most families.
From the proposal itself: Unfortunately, today’s bankruptcy laws—recently re-written by the credit […]

The Hill, one of the best daily reads you can find, has a comprehensive story about the Iowa campaigns. Built around the Biden strategy of a ‘textbook’ one-living-room-at-a-time approach, the story also gives us details of endorsements for all the candidates and a look at the unusual dynamics at play in Iowa.
“…the Biden campaign is […]

I’m posting two pieces from the news for the political component of the economic story, and not just because I enjoy spreading around bad news:
First from MSNBC:
Existing home sales fall for eighth month
Sales of existing homes fell for the eighth consecutive month in October, with median home prices falling by a record amount. Analysts blamed the […]

Just when you thought that Nixon was the 2nd worse president in history (Bush now being the worse, atleast in my book), we are reminded that Nixon actually called for universal access to health insurance in 1974. And… low and behold, McClatchy reports that the Dems proposal look a lot like Nixon’s. Suck on that for a […]

Darrell, in a comment to a previous post that referenced Joe Biden, assumed that I chosen a candidate here at DemDaily. While I have not chosen any candidate, or offered to use my 40 years experience in the political world, I have made a choice to help level the playing field for two of the […]

I think this was given, given her support for Bill Clinton: Barbra Steisand, “legendary filmmaker, artist, and Democratic activist,” endorsed Hillary Clinton for President on Tuesday.
Streisand cited Clinton’s ability to bring about change and the historic nature of her campaign as reasons why she is supporting Hillary’s candidacy.
“Madame President of the United States…it’s an extraordinary thought. […]

It’s Wednesday, yo! I’m sure that about three or four of you *wink* noticed that I did not post a positive round-up, yesterday (my Firefox browser updated itself, but didn’t update my add-ons which included an excellent html editor in which I transformed my posts into web worthy postings. Now, I have to […]

I recently ran across this piece in the conservative party news from Britain on a Blueprint for a green economy.
The Quality of Life Policy Group, chaired by John Gummer and vice-chaired by Zac Goldsmith, released their final report on Thursday morning. The Group have spent 18 months developing an agenda to make Britain a world […]

[Warning: Many think Joe Biden and Chris Dodd have virtually no chance of getting the Democratic Nomination. The same thing was said of John Kerry in 2003. Many campaigns have been won on the basis of a breakout moment. Let’s not count out these candidates.]
Here’s a quote from a fundraising letter from Joe Biden that […]

It might be that this country has finally lost its capacity for outrage, has long since surrendered the idea of reproach or redress when lied to. We have become the Orwellian farm animals who find it too troubling to remember the promises once posted on the stable wall.
