I was going to say something along those lines, but I didn't want people to think I was being overly dramatic.

But, you are right. Even if "now" some people "support" the idea of making abortion and gay marriage (permanently) illegal, sometime in the future, they may change their mind when it affects them personally. Sadly, once the Constitution is changed it will be almost impossible to fix their current lapse in judgment (I think that is a point that needs to be made strongly, loudly and often).

Although I am an atheist, now, I used to be a serious bible-thumper. I imagine that if I had been a supporter of Huckabee's proposals a dozen years ago, and then seen them turn into reality, right now I would probably commit myself to a rubber room for the severe depression that I would suffer having taken my daughter's right to an abortion or my son's right to ever marry the man of his dreams, into the trash heap of history.

I sure hope that folks are correct in assessing that the more Huckabee speaks and the more likely he is to become the Republican nominee, that the more likely it is he will end up being the death knell of the Republican party particularly because of his overzealous religious pandering.

I sincerely want to believe that enough voters will come out in November to curb the "Diebold-Effect", most especially if Huckabee is on the ballot.

Dezzi: Change your "good portion of the U.S." to "a large majority" and that would more accurately reflect my reading of the situation. I'd love to see him in November!

As Winnie the Pooh would say, "Oh, bother..."

Tell us what you really think, Mike!

It's nice that's he's just come right out and stated that he plans to amend the constitution to alienate a good portion of the U.S.

The downside is this schmuck is still in the fight. The upside could be that enough people get scared enough of this Bozo to come out and make sure he does NOT get the nomination, barring that, the presidency.

I certainly hope the citizens of the U.S. are done being led by &^%$ lunatics!

I wish...I wish...
