i own a day spa in arizona. many of our winter customers are from canada. when they talk about the problems with the canadian health system, i ask if they would rather have ours. all have said no, they are satisfied with their health insurance over the u.s. system.

I've read statistics in Business Week Magazine shwoing that canadians have greater satisfaction with their system than we do. The same report showed that overall cost per person is also less than ours. More for less is not a bad bargain.

I wish that even one of our candidates were promoting a program like that. But it could be worse. Some of the Republican proposals actually include taking away the tax deduction from businesses for payments they make towards employee health insurance.

God bless for writing such a moving and evocative article. I've a lot of ER experience as a cardiac patient.

Here an ER cannot refuse a patient in 'critical' or life threatening situation. Thank god. More ER visits later than I choose to remember I'm under care with a county program that is inadequate but better than nothing.

The situation has gotten so miserable that even the Big Pharm companies have gotten together so that patients can get their meds free or at greatly reduced cost if they can't afford them. That's how I get, after 4 angioplasties, my Plavix.

Yep my county program doesn't cover Plavix for cardiac patients. But they'll cover another angioplasty, ambulance ride, cost of another ER visit and hospital stay rather than cover the med that can make a real difference.

We will get better medical coverage in America. It's too big an elephant in the room not to happen.

Personally, I hope to be in a position to get some coverage soon. Of course as an existing cardiac patient my cost will be somewhere between $800 and $1200 per month. Maybe 'soon' was an exaggeration.

Your article moved my greatly.

Keep writing.
