To Keep the Pledge or Break the Pledge… That is the Question

The burning question of the day… Will Barack Obama keep his pledge to “enter into the public financing system should he be the Democratic presidential nominee.” He’s been wavering on the whole notion given his success with online fundraising so “tonight at a fundraiser in Washington, D.C., at the National Museum of Women in the Arts — at a $2,300-per-person event for 200 people held before a $1,000-per-person reception for 350 people — Obama previewed his argument to justify...

Here’s the latest in news about the fight for the Democratic nomination… In California both the Obama and Clinton campaigns are “purging potential California delegates to ensure that only their loyalists vote at the national convention that will crown one of them as the Democratic presidential nominee.” The Obama camp has purged 18 times more delegates than the Clinton camp to the tune of some 900 “potential” delegates purged by camp Obama: Driven by fears that some prospective delegates might...

The Rhetorical Fallacies In This Campaign Are Breathtaking

So tonight, Elton John gave his concert for Hillary Clinton. “I’m still standing,” she quipped, and he said “I never cease to be amazed at the misogynist(ic) attitude of some of the people in this country. I say to hell with them.” And bloggers and those who comment on blogs have already begun screaming that not wanting to vote for Hillary does not equal misogyny. Whoever said it did? One does not have to be a supporter of Sen....

I’m totally swamped with work this week and haven’t had much time to post much. This story, not at all related to politics caught my eye however: “11-year-old hero ‘parked’ runaway school bus.” An 11-year-old boy who steered a runaway school bus to safety said Wednesday he took the wheel because the vehicle was rolling toward a semi. David Murphy said other children on board during Monday’s crash were “freaking out,” screaming and hollering, and he decided he had...

Dowd: Barbara Boxer Makes Sense

In reference to the hearings Maureen Dowd got off the Obama train long enough to write an insightful article. Here’s her take on Senator Boxers comment. It’s part of a good analysis. You know you’re in trouble when Barbara Boxer is the voice of reason. “Why is it,” she asked, “after all we have given — 4,024 American lives, gone; more than half-a-billion dollars spent; all this for the Iraqi people, but it’s the Iranian president who is greeted...

California Gets It Right Again

California overwhelmingly voted to support Hillary Clinton back on Super Tuesday I. Now, voters in California’s 12th Congressional District voted overwhelmingly to send Jackie Speier to Washington, giving her over 75% of the total votes. If you don’t know who Jackie is, you should. Here’s her campaign website. If I couldn’t get a Clinton/Clark ticket, my next choice would be Clinton/Speier. Really. People like Jackie are why I’m a Democrat in the first place.
