Darn right, Stuart. I think you could probably add “Universal Health Care” to the mix.

Of course I probably would have been a Federalist in the early days of the country as they were more anti-slavery. Mid-1800s I probably would have been a Whig/Republican. Since FDR, though, there isn’t much doubt where I fit in.

I am Democrat living in a Republican county meaning Schuylkill. Do I have to say more. Wellwater contaminated from overfertilizing meaning high nitrates and my business was forced to close . All my politicians turn there heads to the cause meaning Agriculture because of there Republican affiliation. Republicans work here for Dep and lie about the cause in 1997 and today health problems door to door. New Supervisors in East Union Twp. told me to move. New homes being built and no compulsary nitrate testing for the home buyer. Who said clean water.

Many times we get so wrapped up in the dedication to our respective candidates that we forget the overarching reasons for the long-term success of the Democratic Party.

While these are ‘wins’ of the past, many of which still aren’t effectively implemented, we are on the verge of new and innovative ‘wins’ in the future. We need to think beyond the twin problems of ‘over personal identification’ with a candidate and also the single issue type of politics that has dominated our party, and fractured it from time to time, for the last 30 years.

I put up this graphic to remind of our heritage and the challenges of our future.

Clean water ? Now they’re selling it for a dollar ! Safe food? Re-call of meat and mad cow disease. What’s going on with the milk?We need to get busy and put Clinton in the White House!! Keep your sense of humor but it’s serious and why, are we where we are? Because the elephants have been in charge?Like a donkey kicks a lion to a tree! Still believe we can!

Add public education to the list.

Add the Supreme Court to the list.

Add support for Unions to the list.

Hell, that’s a great list already, and it’s not even the tip of the iceberg. Fortunately this looks like the year that a lot of those truths finally start to sink in.
