Hillary Clinton will appear on the Colbert Report on Thursday night. AP News reports Clinton is “hoping the “Colbert bump” will help propel her to victory in Pennsylvania.” The Democratic presidential candidate will make her first appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” on Thursday. Both Clinton and Colbert have come to Pennsylvania ahead of the state’s hard-fought Democratic primary on April 22. Clinton rival Barack Obama also is in Pennsylvania, but has thus far declined Colbert’s invitation. Barack...

A Food Policy

Other than a very robust war policy, about the only discernible policy that BUSHCO has is their proprietary version of an energy policy, namely The Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Mind you, we can’t use any of our oil stockpile, because then it would not be available in case we face times even tougher than these. I mean, what would our military use to be able to wage war if OPEC were to ever stop it’s policy of price aggression and...

Here’s a Campaign Break: Just a Silly-Assed Dog

The infamous Gator, the one eyed, lame cowdog that’s afraid of cattle, in action as she obeys a simply ‘Down’ command. The rolling over and groveling at my feet was her idea. How did a ‘she’ get named Gator? I have no idea. Sadly, Gator is missing in action at the ranch. She was a fine, if silly-assed, dog. Sphere: Related Content

Obama’s Tactic of Conciliation vs Political Compromise

Barack Obama’s support for Joe Liebermann during his election is and was an important indicator of his character, judgment and goals. HARTFORD, Conn. –U.S. Sen. Barack Obama rallied Connecticut Democrats at their annual dinner Thursday night, throwing his support behind mentor and Senate colleague Joe Lieberman. That endorsement, at a Jefferson/Jackson Dinner, two years ago is simply more evidence of Barack Obama’s inability to see the true enemy where they exist. I’ve never understood why so many don’t...

Political Log Rolling in the Clinton Campaign

April 15, 2008 3:13 am
By

It was just an old-fashioned case of political log rolling. In this case, the Clinton campaign approached a Democratic county commissioner and held up a political carrot—if the commissioner, the only Democrat of the three commissioners, would endorse Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, they would do their best to provide President Bill Clinton as a speaker in the commissioner’s county.            “Well, OK. That’s a pretty fair deal,” the Bloomsburg (Pa.) Press Enterprise quoted Commissioner David Kovach as...

Late Night: In Search of the Good Old Nervous Breakdown

April 15, 2008 12:53 am
By

Look what’s become passe… old-fashioned “nervous breakdowns.” Hardly anyone mentions those anymore. “I haven’t heard that term in years,” said Mike Fitzpatrick, executive director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a national advocacy organization based in Arlington, Va. “’It’s from another era.” The term — a vague catch-all phrase that could mean anything from a psychotic episode to having a bad day — is not a medical term, doctors say, but it was a popular one that was...
