I know the author specified she wasn't trying to be anti-gay by using the term, but ... well, it's an anti-gay slur. You sort of can't be pro-gay and use it. :-( It's a good article, though -- it is important to be able to defend yourself as well as you can, and more important to believe that you are worth defending.
