I guess you can say that I grew up in one of those typical working class homes. Both parents worked and my father worked overtime as much as possible to earn a little extra cash to provide a few niceties we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford. I grew up with a fairly simple philosophy: 1.) love thy neighbor as thyself (from church 3 times a week) and 2.) Never give up once you start something, even if it’s hard.
The former has shaped my politics and influenced my ultimate career path. The latter is why I worked 30+ hours in the school year and two jobs in the summer to pay my way to college. It’s why I spend long days and nights working on my dissertation. It’s why I sure as hell ain’t givin’ up on Hill until she wins or calls it quits. Hillary Clinton has proven that she is a fighter and that she will fight every day for me and all them invisible people out there–those of us who can’t afford to shop at Whole Foods! She will fight for me even when large swaths of her Party are doing everything they possibly can to sabotage her campaign, whether its lying about “The Math” or doctoring videos to make her look bad.
Hillary represents me and has proven her dedication to the principles I hold most dear in life. If she asks me to help her fight the good fight, I’m all in, no matter what the odds. And the odds aren’t really all that bad in her winning the popular vote. The supers are going to have to decide whether they want to disenfranchise FL and MI and actively prevent all the voters from voting or not. Until they do so, I’m calling their bluff: I ain’t giving up on Hillary. Not in this lifetime.
Note: Sorry about the country music, Pamela. I couldn’t think of a more fitting song to express my sentiment :o).
