Ain’t Givin’ Up On Hill (‘Til the Sun Comes Up)

I guess you can say that I grew up in one of those typical working class homes. Both parents worked and my father worked overtime as much as possible to earn a little extra cash to provide a few niceties we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford. I grew up with a fairly simple philosophy: 1.) love thy neighbor as thyself (from church 3 times a week) and 2.) Never give up once you start something, even if it’s hard.

The former has shaped my politics and influenced my ultimate career path. The latter is why I worked 30+ hours in the school year and two jobs in the summer to pay my way to college. It’s why I spend long days and nights working on my dissertation. It’s why I sure as hell ain’t givin’ up on Hill until she wins or calls it quits. Hillary Clinton has proven that she is a fighter and that she will fight every day for me and all them invisible people out there–those of us who can’t afford to shop at Whole Foods! She will fight for me even when large swaths of her Party are doing everything they possibly can to sabotage her campaign, whether its lying about “The Math” or doctoring videos to make her look bad.

Hillary represents me and has proven her dedication to the principles I hold most dear in life. If she asks me to help her fight the good fight, I’m all in, no matter what the odds. And the odds aren’t really all that bad in her winning the popular vote. The supers are going to have to decide whether they want to disenfranchise FL and MI and actively prevent all the voters from voting or not. Until they do so, I’m calling their bluff: I ain’t giving up on Hillary. Not in this lifetime.

Note: Sorry about the country music, Pamela. I couldn’t think of a more fitting song to express my sentiment :o).

Yee ha ! What’s going on NC ? That was a real goof up for America ! In the middle of a huge move and found a post card of Hillary Clinton that I posted on my refrig that kept me going ! Right when you’re about to cry and be overwhelmed, just take a look at the cut out of Hillary Clinton ready to box the fire out of all of them ! “Rocky!” I’m not kidding, moving will disconnect your life and every day there is another box ! Two weeks no innernet and it’s like your totally disconnected from the world ! Evidently, NC is and Obama won ! Yeah, heard that and really wanted to cry ! You’ve got to be kidding me ! NC did not study the issues or compare the agenda’s between Obama and Clinton ! I’m ticked off about it to be honest ! Clinton doesn’t win NC ? Go ahead, make my day ! Where’s Clint Eastwood ! Go Clinton !

Yes, I’m not giving up on hillary either!!!! She’s my hero and this race is not over until the last vote is counted, including Florida and Michigan!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Gilbert: I actually started with less in life than you (if I’m reading between your lines correctly, blue collar father, stay at home mother with 11 kids). And it was hard, but maybe not as hard as for you because it was 1965. I worked less hours than you during school, and only a single job in the summer. We all did, and we all could make it then because the grants, loans, and work study were enough that anyone with true hunger could feed. Today, it sounds like not!

We need a Democrat in the Whitehouse in the worst way. I want to hear about “victory gardens” (for the food crisis coming), and conserving every bit of energy possible, and helping humanity forge a path into the future.

I truly wish that we had that candidate, and yearn for when we finally do. Until then, any Dem is better than any Republic, and those not knowing this are simply confused.

I’m with Pamela in wishing that this were the year of the woman President. But given the place we’re at right now, I just can’t see it. Fortunately we win either way. And though November won’t bring us paradise, it certainly will at least stop the bleeding. Thank god for small blessings.

Loans, grants and work study simply don’t cover all the expenses of going to college. I know this first hand. It’s tough and that’s just one of the many reasons we need a Dem in the White House – you are right.

I’d prefer Hillary, I will hold on with her as long she does, but when the need arises I will support the nominee. I hope everyone here will – I say again…

It’s a good choice in music. I’m not anti-country music, it’s just not in top listening list. I think I may have said here already, I’m a big Willie, Waylon and Johnny Cash fan. The newer country artists I don’t know too well.

  8. The first record I bought in my life was the 45 of “Ring of Fire”. I was a young teenager.

  9. Darrell

You have a good memory – I can’t remember what my single was… the Beatles maybe?

  10. I would have bet that you’re too young to even know what a 45 is.

  11. Darrell

    I wish!

Ha ! Needed to hear that one more time after listening to CNN ! In it to win ! Stay in the saddle and lean with the trees ! Go Clinton !
