Hillary: “More Determined Than Ever”

May 13, 2008 11:41 pm

Make no mistake about it… Hillary Clinton is still “in to win.” She told supporters tonight in Charleston, West Virginia: “I am more determined than ever to carry on this campaign. I am in this race because I believe I am the strongest candidate. … I can lead this party to victory in the general election if you lead me to victory now.” Watch a clip from Hillary’s speech here: I have to concur with Jeralyn: “The media is not...

Massive Repudiation

As of now (7:05 PST), Hillary is laying a thumping on Obama in WV: 65-28%. Since the IN and NC primaries, there has been a coronation of Obama as the Democratic nominee. Obama has planned his acceptance speech/party on May 20th. The media and blogger boiz have essentially ruled Hillary Clinton completely out of the race. Obama, as the “presumed nominee” outspent Hillary in WV and had more staff than she did. The Obama super delegates have ruled Hillary...

Big Tent Democrat notes on Talk Left that Obama gave a speech in MO, before the polls closed in WVa. A little tacky? Kinda… But we already know Obama is looking beyond W Va although the results there could matter. BTD also notes early exit polls from WVa: Sphere: Related Content

Trivializing Racism

You’ll have to excuse me if I’m unmoved by the keyboard jockeys claiming racism for those who are not supporting Obama. I don’t have to justify my race relations credibility to anyone. You just have to ask those who know me, about the group I helped start at the medical school I’m affiliated with to address the needs of minority students including recruitment and retention or the broader activism on a university wide level. (Ironically, when I requested a...

Senate Votes to Halt Strategic Oil Stockpiling

May 13, 2008 1:25 pm

The Senate sent a clear message to George W today about stockpiling oil at the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In a clear rebuke, by a 97 to 1, veto proof vote, the Senate voted to “halt deliveries to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve over President Bush’s objections.” The House is expected to follow suit later today. The action, supported by the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates, comes as high fuel costs have contributed to the nation’s economic woes and become a...

Let The Contest Continue

Despite the calls from the pundits, surrogates and “creative class” bloggers for Obama, two new polls show strong support for the Democratic race for the nomination to continue. The first poll from ABC News/Washington Post shows that “64 percent of Democrats in the latest  poll say Clinton should remain in the race,” and “even among Obama’s supporters, 42 percent say so.”   Also noted in the ABC News/Washington Post Poll is that “85 percent of Democrats (including Democratic-leaning independents) are confident...

Dizzy’s Ten Post Round-Up

So much to do, so little time. But, I made plenty of time for today’s Ten Post Round-Up: 1: Missouri is trying to imitate Indiana’s faulty voter ID law…. The Worst Voting Law in the Country–Alternet 2: It’s official, Bob Barr is running for president on the Libertarian ticket… Bob Barr throws a wrench–ColoradoPols.com 3: Why does GWB hate the American consumer?… The Bush administration tries to block Mad Cow testing by Meat packers–Crooks and Liars 4: Life is...

Late Night Public Service Announcement: Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

May 13, 2008 12:32 am
By

Following up on my rant below, I want to remind readers how freakin important it is to keep your “eyes on the prize.” From Bruce Springsteen’s Live In Dublin, The Seeger Sessions: The outcome of this presidental election is far to important to take your ball and go home if the nominee of your choice isn’t chosen. Likewise there is no reason to rush anyone out of the field. Let’s all keep our eyes on the prize… We can’t...
