I don't know right now how I'll vote in Nov but it's unlikely that Barack Obama will get my vote. It's also unlikely that McCain will get my vote. I'm going to follow Cynthia McKinney's candidacy as the likely Green party candidate. We'll see...

In watching that video of McCain stumping, I can't get over the ugliness of the woman who asked such a rude and inappropriate question. To me, it looked as if McCain was shocked at first and then saw how others in the room were taking it and went along with it as if he were hanging out at the officers club. Disappointing & disgusting, yes, but who the hell is that hateful woman and why hasn't she been ostracized for her sexist behavior? At this point, I'm not sure how Senator Clinton's rivals would have handled that question on the campaign trail. Based on their silence about the hits she's taken, I don't think they'd have been much better than McCain. Richardson? Obama's foreign policy advisor called Senator Clinton "a monster." Became an issue only because she said it publically. Who knows what Senator Clinton has been called privately in that campaign?

It's been a very disheartening experience. I'll be changing my registration status soon to undeclared.

As a writer for the Kerry campaign blog and a lifelong Kerry supporter I was devastated by the outcome of '04. I can see now that that devastation would be compounded only more if we do not all band together to elect Obama. I trust that he will work to ease the concerns of Clinton supporters, because I know she will make certain that he does.

Kate of All Trades

Thank you.

It has always been a given to me that I would support the nominee, and it has always been obvious that if the nominee was not HRC, she would step up and work to get Obama elected.

4 years ago I worked on the Kerry campaign and have continued to work with Kerry's staff since. Months ago when I informed a member of his staff of my decision to support HRC, I was told, that my decision was respected and though we may not be on the same team for the primaries, ultimately we would be. And so we are...

I hope in time many of the frustrated and angry will feel their pain disapate and will be willing to jump in and join the cause to put a Dem in the White House.

Pamela: There are consequences for all actions and I see this aura of "no to Obama" as a consequence of the sexist bullcrap we had to endure from our fellow democrats.

I suffered for 7 years under Bush (including working on the Kerry campaign to get rid of Bush) only to be battered by my own party. And just when the media was starting to come around to see the "light," we got battered by them as well.

So, I understand what your concern is, and I will not vote for McCain. However, I am not voting for Obama unless he and his supporters make good with us. I know Obama is trying, but the damage was done when they Donna Braziled us and charged the Clintons with "racism."

I, at this point, will be writing Hillary's name in.

As an Obama supporter, it is not lost on me how it might feel if he were the one conceding this week. I know it must be very difficult to switch gears after such a long and impassioned race.

I am disturbed, like many people are, that so many of Hillary's supporters would rather vote for McCain than Obama when McCain's policies are so far removed from Hillary's. It honestly doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But of course, everyone can vote how they want and there is no need for anyone to justify it to me.

At the same time, I've been encouraged by voices like yours, honest in your disappointment but resolute in moving forward with the best options available. I really do believe Obama is an outstanding leader. My hope over the next few months is that people will really try to listen to him, get to know him. What anyone does with that information is up to them. But the future of our country is waaaay too important to not do our homework and not really know these candidates. To the poster that is reading Obama - The Postmodern Coup: Making of a Manchurian Candidate’ read 'The Audacity of Hope' too. None of use can rely on media or other people to make this easy for us. We must be fair and balanced on our own. You can't seek out just the information you want. Every one of us should be struggling with these choices.

Mark

Unfortunately in the past 8 years we've had a very tough time passing reform of our voting system or anything to do with it or even to get the average person to listen to the idea that the system is broken. Sad but true.

My good friend Brad Friedman on BradBlog has been in the forefront of working on this issue in the blogosphere for years.

I hope that once we have a Dem in the White House and more control of Congress we might get some reform passed through. In the meantime, I can only tell you that after the '04 election people who called foul on the system were largely ignored.

Finally I honestly do think that if there were "illegitimacy" to prove that HRC would be bowing out.

Pamela and All: I agree with Pamela to a certain extent. However, I am not going to impugn people who are declaring now that they "might" vote for McCain.

People who already say they "will" vote for McCain... well, it seems a little premature. We haven't seen the debates, we don't know how the cards will fall with respect to McCain's abilities, stands, judgment, and other qualities.

However, as a Democrat in Exile (sorry, Pamela... I know you must hate that term), what I say is, I am NOT declaring who I will vote for at this time. Whoever it is will have to earn my vote. It cannot be taken for granted anymore. The process let me down, and I don't plan on being a DemoBot when votes are not respected as they should be in the primary process.

My advice to Democrats. Show goodwill and due diligence, admit to the relative illegitimacy of this year's process, promise and move quickly for reform that shows more respect for the will of the people, and less respect for centralized power.

This is a trial separation... you know what trial separations involve, right? Generally, good behavior and negotiation, and no further abuse.

I wanted John Kerry to run again in 2008. When he did not I was crushed. I got over it. I have met both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and they are both great. I decided to support Hillary Clinton, but she did not win, so I am supporting Barack Obama all the way!!! We need a Democrat in the White House and I intend to do all I can to put one there!!!
