Repeal FISA is up and running. Anyone who wants to is welcome to sign up and become a blogger on it. The purpose of the blog is to organize a drive to repeal the FISA laws and all laws that pardon or give immunity from prosecution anyone who has violated the Constitution during the Bush Administration.

That is why we want everyone to be able to Post so they can start a conversation about an idea they have to make this happen.

Stop on by and check it out. By all means leave a comment and sign up to blog with us as we figure out what needs to be done to return our Fourth Amendment Rights and our rule of law.

Darrell, my comment was not referring to any fundamental weakness in Obama.

The Blue Dogs and some other Democrats like Nancy Pelosi are supporting the Republicans on this bill. It is they who have the strength because they outnumber those who, like Patrick Leahy and Russ Feingold, oppose it.

It is only in this sense that Obama — if he decided to oppose the bill, as I believe he should — is operating from a position of weakness. Oh, that and the fact that he has already said that he will vote for the bill… after he as tried and failed to extricate retroactive immunity, of course… creating another position of weakness.

Good point Darrell. He is after all on the campaign trail. He is also the head of our party now. He should therefore entrust the filibustering to someone else with a powerful voice on the Senate floor. Let’s see… hmm… who might that colleague be? Filibuster? Obama is no longer a mere Senator, especially with the Democratic tidal wave that November is shaping up as. A large part of his claim to fame is the ability to create “coattails”, and he needs to start throwing his weight around accordingly on the limited number of issues of this magnitude.

Twist arms on the left, make some very minor promises to Reps who are otherwise looking at at least two totally fruitless years, hold the vote and defeat this abomination publicly and cleanly.

If he doesn’t know how to wield political power to our benefit by now, when is he supposed to learn it?
