Universal Press Syndicate odds columnist Benjamin Eckstein says, “In the world of betting and gambling, your word is your bond. Whether it’s a $7 bet or a $500,000 bet, once it’s made and once you shake on it, it should be done.” That’s why he’s stepped up and has made offers to both T. Boone Pickens and the Swift Boat veterans in support of Kerry that took up Pickens $1 million challenge suggesting that “his own oversight or the...

How out of touch is Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson? So out of touch that he thinks what’s going on with the economy is simply a “rough period.” That’s right… BushCo wants Americans to believe that “soaring crude oil prices, a widespread credit crunch and a two-year long housing market slump” has simply “taken some of the wind out of the sails of the US economy.” No doubt, unlike the average hard working American, Henry Paulson doesn’t have to worry about...

Dizzy’s Ten Post Round-Up

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, so long as you got your sunblock, along comes bad news about sunscreen. On the upside, apparently, one of summer’s favorite, fruity, treats; the watermelon, turns out it’s got some very positive qualities most people never think about. Oh, yeah…there’s some other stuff in today’s Ten Post Round-Up , but it’s not nearly as interesting… 1. Clusterf**k Nation: Not Your Grandma’s Depression The banks have been doing their death...

July 2, 2008 12:02 am

Earlier this evening I sat outside with a neighbor discussing a wealth of topics including the news that Starbucks will be cutting “up to 12,000 jobs” and closing “600 stores.” It’s a sign of the times to come as consumers continue to cut back on even the littlest of extravagances to make sure they put gas in the tank. Not only has Starbucks been “grappling with the slowing U.S. economy and consumer spending” but they have also had “major...
