Obama To Focus Campaign on Economy

July 28, 2008 9:14 am

Now that Barack Obama is back in the U.S., after his whirlwind trip to the Middle East and Europe, he’s ready to start focusing on the “top issue for American voters — the faltering U.S. economy.” That’s welcome news, because every one I speak to from friends to business associates are all concerned with economic issues. As he hits the campaign trail again, Barack Obama will travel to “Washington to meet with a star-studded panel that includes billionaire investor Warren Buffett, former...

Late Night Read

I’m heading off for the night, but I want to recommend readers head over to Hullabaloo and read Digby’s post on Jane Mayer’s book The Dark Side, The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals. Digby concludes: This isn’t just a fever dream of the liberal left and the libertarian right. Too bad government just passed a law covering the whole thing up. Mayer believes that there will be no prosecutions and...

Cradle to Grave Medical Care

Watching Stephanopoulos interview McCain this morning on ABC, it struck me that he’s so easy to dislike that I can sometimes do it without even really thinking. McCain: “If we start counting time sixteen months ago, it would prove that Obama would be happy to have Osama Bin Laden take over this country, or even Saddam Hussein, as long as Obama could be second in command. And by golly something very much like this will happen if I don’t...

Frank Rich’s column today in the NY Times, about Barack Obama’s trip abroad, is a must read. Rich says, “to dismiss Barack Obama’s magical mystery tour through old Europe and two war zones as a media-made fairy tale would be to underestimate the ingenious politics of the moment.” Sphere: Related Content

The Funniest Video On The Commercial Advertising Process…And It’s Reality In The Political World

July 27, 2008 1:19 pm
By

This video was made to point out the idiocy of many marketing and branding campaigns. The unfortunate reality is that this video is all too true. Ever wonder how some of the truly boneheaded moves get made in the commercial world? Well, watch this and you’ll see how the same damn boneheaded moves get made in our political world. My views after the video… As someone who has acted as staffer, quasi-campaign manager and consultant this video a reality...

NY Times Relegates Women Bloggers to the Style Section

July 26, 2008 9:54 pm

The NY Times has a piece today on the annual BlogHer conference which was held last week. Sadly the Times relegates the piece to the “Style” section while claiming women bloggers are breaking “Blogging’s Glass Ceiling.” The BlogHer conference “began in 2005 to help female bloggers gain exposure,” clearly we still have a long way to go if the Times sticks the piece in the style section and the first two paragraphs read as follows: Sphere: Related Content

The Boston Herald reported today that an “upbeat U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy completed his last day of radiation and chemotherapy treatment yesterday, according to an e-mail to friends and family from wife Vicki Kennedy.” “He remained strong and was able to stay on schedule throughout this shock-and-awe phase of the treatment and his doctors – and we – are enormously pleased with his progress,” Vicki said in an e-mailed update sent yesterday. “As you can imagine, after six...
