Tonight, the biggest names in Democratic politics in Boston who were “once divided into two camps during the presidential primary,” turned out to “throw Barack Obama a 47th birthday fund-raiser bash.”

The Chicago Sun Times reported today that “Robert Novak has announced his immediate retirement following the diagnosis of a brain tumor, a prognosis the Sun-Times’ political columnist describes as “dire.””
“The details are being worked out with the doctors this week, but the tentative plan is for radiation and chemotherapy,” Novak said.

The NY Times reports today that although the “first wave of Americans to default on their home mortgages appears to be cresting,” a second, far larger group of potential loan defaults is looming, because now, even “homeowners with good credit are falling behind on their payments in growing numbers.”
