(1) Palin was shown today speaking with Maria Baritoromo and stating thtat Alaska had delivered 15 billion barrels of oil to the U.S. The truth is that most of that oil actually was delivered to Japan, and the money received was used to buy Venezuelan oil for delivery to the U.S. The cause may be that the Panama Canal is not capable of allowing transit by the vessles that onloaded Alaskan oil, but the result of the way that the world oil market functions is that we became more dependent on Venezuelan oil. She appears to not know this.
(2) McCain was shown today as stating that Alaska provides "20% of U.S. energy", rather than only "20% of U.S. oil and gas". Wikipedia states that 63% of our energy came from oil and natural gas in 2005, the only items that Alaska contributes to our energy equation. Accordingly, Alaska contributed only 12.6% of our "energy" and the only wat to get the number even that high is to ignore that basically 100% of our food and fiber production, etc. is produced from energy provided by the sun.
(3) "Palin is more qualified than Obama." What a crock! In this country success is defined by who got the most votes. In 2006 she got less than 115,000 votes, while he got more than 3.5 million. Obama had more people in Germany turn out for his recent speech than Palin has been able to persuade to vote for her for anything in her entire life. Yeah she's qualified alright. To continue to be be Governor of the least populated state in the nation.
