Well, Rob, there are two problems with your argument.

First, “trickle up” isn’t Obama’s “philosophy,” but, rather, John McCain’s talking point. Mere assertion don’t make it so.

And second, IF trickle down worked, then how do you explain the massive movement of wealth from lower and middle classes (who have seen real income drop precipitously) to the top 1% and 10% who have seen their proportion increase since “trickle down” (without mention of kidneys) was instituted in 1981?

The top 1% now have as much wealth as the bottom 50% of the American people.Current “class” disparities between rich and poor haven’t been this stark since the eve of the LAST Great Depresssion.

You are welcome to research this and disagree if you can find any numbers anywhere to back up your assertion.

I find it quite ironic that Obama advocates a “trickle up” theory. Give money to the poor and the capitalists will get rich selling to them. Yet, they scream when someone advocates a “trickle down” theory claiming that leaving investors’ money in their own hands to invest in factories and production will not make the poor rich, though we know that the “poor” in the U.S. are the most affluent poor in the history of the world. Most of them have cars, HDTV, cell phones and more. The trickle up theory of Obama is really a way of spreading poverty rather than wealth.

“Barack Obama” (if that is your real name ) you certainly have my permission to link to this post. And Hans, I realize that you are uncomfortable with ONE form of socialism, but I fail to see how that relates in any wise to this post. It seems to be a non-sequitur.

After the “free market” tanked the whole financial systen, resulting in its nationalization, it would seem that not much more “free market” would be necessary before we could socialize the entire economy. Maybe the folks on the right need to be careful what they wish for.

The GOP continues to use fear as their flawed campaign tactic. They drummed up the “Swiftboat lies” about Senator Kerry. He was falsely portrayed as being a socialist, a traitor, and as being soft on terror. They used gutter tactics to transform a Vietnam war hero into a villain. George Bush, who’s fathers clout allowed him to avoid the war, became the patriot. Now they are useing the same disgraceful tactics against Senator Obama. Their misleading rhetoric has prompted some people to yell “kill him” and “traitor” at campaign rallies McCain and Palin’s hate speech have contributed to an unnatural hatred of Obama. I hope the American people, after eight year of “the decider” will not allow themselves to be duped again!! It was F.D.R. who said “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Perhaps today’s GOP should alter it slightly to, “the only thing we have to sell is fear itself.” Buzz
