An Unexpected Quote

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.   This is not a way of life at  all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war,...

‘Socialist’, Soviet And Race-coded Speech: An Atmosphere of Violence and Hatred

Yesterday I posted a video appeal by the Barack Obama campaign asking those that could to take just one day, perhaps a vacation day or personal day, and work for the Obama campaign on election day. I thought it was an innovative nationwide request to an enormous mail list. The article was picked up by a right wing blog. The three comments that were left on the post are hatred personified. I have been honestly concerned about the split...

Ten Post Round-Up: Big News In Digestible Bits (Tuesday, October 28th)

So, check this out.  I did not accomplish much, yesterday, but I did post to the blog, so please cut me some slack if you see a few dust bunnies around.  Some things are more important than muddy footprints, I tell ya.  Heck, there must be some kind of medal or free happy meal for me posting the Ten Post Round-Up two days in a row (tap-tap-tap…is this thing on?). I just got what could turn out to be...

Diva Id and Conk Her

The Swamp, the Chicago Tribune‘s Washington bureau blog, reports: A campaign official privately tells the paper: “She’s now positioning herself for her own future. Of course, this is bad for John. It looks like no one is in charge.” ABC News, among others, notes that, in an interview with CNN, one McCain adviser anonymously called Palin “a diva” who is “playing for her own future” political prospects. “”She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” the advisor...

Take The Day Off For Obama

Earlier today I received a very persuasive, innovative email from the Barack Obama Campaign. They are promoting a new concept with this video: “Take The Day Off For Barack Obama” From the Obama Campaign: “This election will be decided by what this grassroots movement can accomplish on Election Day. We have volunteer shifts to fill throughout the day — make calls, knock on doors, and make sure your fellow voters get to the polls. No previous experience is required....

Electoral: Obama 286-McCain 163? (Video)

Per Chuck Todd at MSNBC here’s the latest on the possible variations on the electoral vote. If this is true then there a blow out in progress for the Congress and potentially for the Senate. Remember, however, that people tend to vote one party for President and may vote for the other party for their home district congressperson. Working the down ticket races in, for example my home state of California where Barack Obama has a 27% point lead,...

Ten Post Round-Up: Big News In Digestible Bits (Monday, October 27th)

Well, look who it is?  I know, I’ve practically been a stranger, lately, but I’ve had a lot going on and found it difficult to find the time to blog, much less the motivation through reading what is becoming a severely contentious electoral race.  I’ve made some adjustments, having decided that I like blogging a lot more than some other things that require my attention.  Besides, like Phyliss Diller once said, “cleaning the house while there are children in...

Jury Finds Stevens Guilty!

84 year old Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was found guilty on all 7 counts of his indictment. He said, ‘This isn’t over yet’ according to CNN. All 7 counts were for some sort of financial corruption. He sat expressionless as the seven verdicts were read out at the end of his trial, less than a day after the jury began deliberations from scratch because of a change in jurors. After the second guilty verdict was read, Stevens’ lead defense...
