Caroline Kennedy Interested in Hillary’s NY Senate Seat

December 5, 2008 10:21 pm

Word has it that Caroline Kennedy is interested in Hillary Clinton’s NY Senate seat when Clinton is confirmed as Secretary of State. I was hoping that Bobby, Jr. might be interested in the seat, but apparently he is not: As a prominent member of the Kennedy clan, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg is the kind of high-profile, historic figure who could overshadow many other New York politicians hoping to be Paterson’s choice. The governor has said he is in no rush...

$1 Per Gallon Gas Next Year?

Is greater relief at the gas pumps finally in sight? If Gulf Oil CEO Joe Petrowski is correct it could go down to $1.00 a gallon or lower by next year. I for one am hoping he’s right. I just filled my tank up here in rural Maine yesterday paying $1.99 a gallon. A further dip in gas prices would surely help the economy and give a boost to those suffering and struggling in the recession. Petrowski said while speaking...

A Sad Day for Canada

Living next to the Canadian border I should be paying more attention to the “political crisis“ going on there right now, but Dem Daily Contibutor Michael J.W. Stickings has a full explanation on his blog, The Reaction and in The Guardian’s Comment is Free section.  I highly recommend reading both. Sphere: Related Content

Campbell Brown, Sexist Pig

Campbell Brown, Sexist Pig

I learned a long time ago, writing captions for photos in magazines and newspapers, that context is everything. Even pictures can mean vastly different things, depending on context: for example, I can show you a picture of a vacant lot, overgrown with weeds and maybe some typical urban trash. And I can provide you with two captions: Urban permaculture project seeks answers to invasive species problem … or Land use regulations create headaches for developers and eyesores for the...

Season’s Beatings

Well, to the surprise of almost nobody who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, Saxby Chambliss, the scumsucker who morphed Osama bin Laden into Incumbent Senator and Vietnam veteran Max Cleland’s face in 2002 while taking the seat for the first time, has prevailed about 60-40% in the runoff election today, according to CNN. Chambliss (l.) and a stray Palin child, seemingly Sphere: Related Content

Obama Is Earning High Marks

December 2, 2008 9:21 pm

The latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll has found that Barack Obama is earning “high marks” with the American public for his “handling of the transition and his choices for the Cabinet.” Even with the bleak outlook over the economy and the news that we are officially in a recession, the USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows that “ore than three of four Americans, including a majority of Republicans, approve of the job Obama has done so far — broad-based support he’ll need...

Out Of The Loop

December 2, 2008 8:21 pm

It all started when I left Los Angeles and drove cross country to move to Eastport, Maine a few weeks ago… Throughout the entire cross country trek I was completely out of the loop and not paying any attention to the news (being in a car for 15 – 18 hours a day will do that to you). When I arrived here in Eastport there was so much to do to get settled in my new home and get back...
