President-elect Obama has launched Obama 2.0, otherwise known as “Organizing for America”: Marc Ambinder notes: An Obama political aide said that OFA will be housed at the Democratic National Committee, resolving a longstanding debate about whether the entity should be separate. A press release prepared by OFA calls the organization “the next phase” of the Obama organization, and will offer “volunteers the continued opportunity to work for change in their communities by organizing in support of reform in Washington.”...
Many here know I really have liked Joe Biden. His farewell speech, which I accidentally saw from the start on C-Span, was a classic example of Senate culture and Biden unique skills at best. I thought his speech was reflective of the great Senate speeches of the past. It was oratory but without the tight script used so often today. As a political junkie I thought I understood the intimate culture of the Senate. I found out watching this...
As I post this, there are 7 minutes more than 72 hours remaining in the worst ‘presidency’ in American history: 72 hours never passed so slow. I told you recently that Bush was soon going to have plenty of time to polish his halo. I hadn’t realized what a massive undertaking was already underway. Just look at the White House web page, complete with (scrubbed) text of his “byebye” speech (But hurry: It’s probably only going to be up...
The Boston Globe reports that John Kerry’s former “body man” Marvin Nicholson will “continue his role as “trip director” for President-elect Barack Obama.” Nicholson, Kerry’s former “Chief of Stuff,” will coordinate the “minute-by-minute movements on Air Force One and on the road” for incoming President Barack Obama. Dem Daily readers may remember this story about Nicholson on the campaign trail with Obama, from last January: “O’Reilly Gets Pushy With Obama Staffer.” Marvin Nicholson was one of the first members...
While I continue to make a real effort at integrating all the video, audio, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Jott (one you might not know that converts a cel message to text), Qik (one where the right cel phone can live stream video and have it saved like YouTube) and many more social networking sites, I’m overwhelmed. As I work for campaigns as a comm strategist and/or director I feel I should be up with all this advancement. Yet, I know...
Apparently Darth Cheney can’t wait to get back to his nap: Good riddance Darth.
With just a few more days to go, Bush’s staff is exiting… stage right. Politico has a particularly sentimental look at the final days of a presidency from the views of current and former White House staffers. Let’s get on with the show… It’s time for change in Washington. Out with the old and in with the new — no dead-enders needed! Sphere: Related Content
