Oops… Republican Senator Ensign Admits to Affair
By: Pamela Leavey
As Think Progress points out, “in 1998, while running for Nevada’s Senate seat against Harry Reid,” Senator John Ensign(R-NV) “called on President Clinton to resign in light of his admitted affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.” Today, Ensign admitted to an extra marital affair of his own… one that has now perhaps turned to a case of extortion to boot. It seems it’s a bit of a tangled web:
An aide in Ensign’s office said the affair took place between December 2007 and August 2008 with a campaign staffer who was married to an employee in Ensign’s Senate office. Neither have worked for the senator since May 2008.
My, my, my… Just a little more hypocrisy from the conservative right wing. Ensign can probably kiss his 2012 aspirations goodby with this news.
