The number of senators looking to enact federally run public option health coverage through a controversial procedure known as reconciliation has doubled in just the last 24 hours, according to a progressive advocacy organization. Did Tea Party “godfathers” break federal election law in Illinois?

But the question is this: is anybody going to enforce campaign laws, or doesn’t anybody have to obey laws anymore? Or was this “charitable” takedown of Beth Coulson a preview of what’s ahead with unlimited corporate campaign funding under whatever masks, shells and shills are necessary? Or, worse, was this a preview of political campaigns for the rest of 2010? Moderate Beth Coulson as the new Helen Gahagan Douglas?
