Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice Drops 23%

“The Donald” has taken a little bit of slip in recent days from the TV polls as The Hollywood Reporter notes: NBC’s three-hour telecast — which saw Star Jones and LaToya Jackson fired and NeNe Leakes quitting — didn’t fare so well: Celebrity Apprentice (7 million total viewers, 2.4 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic) was the lowest-rated spring telecast for the franchise, dipping 23 percent. Dateline (3.9 million, 0.8) served as a weak lead-in, down 33 percent. The Peacock...

A group of Democratic senators is putting legislative pressure on President Obama to end the U.S. war in Afghanistan. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, Barbara Boxer, Sherrod Brown, and Dick Durbin are co-sponsoring the Safe and Responsible Redeployment of United States Combat Forces from Afghanistan Act of 2011, according to an email Gillibrand sent Monday to supporters of Democracy For America (DFA), a prominent progressive advocacy group. “An endless war in Afghanistan is not in America’s best interest,” Gillibrand says in...

He’s In: Setti Warren for Massachusetts Senate 2012

May 9, 2011 5:34 pm

As I noted here last night it looked as though Setti Warren was planning to announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate on Tuesday. Warren pulled a fast one and announced today. Here’s his announcement: I’ve been frustrated by the lack of strong Democratic candidates in the 2012 Senate race here in Massachusetts. I’m excited that Setti has decided to run. I think he brings a lot this Senate race and I believe he will give Scott Brown a serious run...

Is Newton, Massachusetts Mayor Setti Warren ready to jump in to the MA Sen 2012 race for the Democratic nomination against MA Senator Scott Brown, who pulled a fast one on Dems in the quickie run-off election for Ted Kennedy’s seat a year and a half ago? Word has it, that Warren has “booked the same American Legion Post where he announced his mayoral run for an unspecified event” this Tuesday. And… Word has it that the MA GOP is already...

May 6, 2011 3:14 pm
By

Preparing to assert its new authority to protect the safety of the nation’s food supply, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has rolled out two new regulations that will take effect this summer. The new rules stem from greater power given the agency by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), signed into law by President Obama in January. The legislation is designed to up-date a U.S. food safety system which was decades old in the face of repeated...

Not Bush’s Victory

May 6, 2011 12:50 pm
By

Scott has noted here a couple of times that members of the former Bush administration and their cronies, have been attempting to claim some victory status for George W. Bush, in the wake of Osama Bin Laden’s death. But Bin Laden’s death is not Bush’s victory: Ever so gingerly, even as they praised President Obama’s success against Osama bin Laden, some former senior Bush administration officials have sought to take a little credit for the mission themselves. Former Secretary...
