Kerry on the Debt Talks

Word has it that President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner may be close to a deal on the debt limit talks. But yesterday, members of the Senate Democratic Caucus, including MA Senator John Kerry, expressed their frustration on the closed door process:

“The notion that you’re going to have some big thing that’s agreed upon between the White House and some Republicans and whatever and everybody’s going to say ‘OK, that’s it,’ and involves massive cuts with committees up here that have jurisdiction and issues of responsibility, I have a problem with that,” said Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). “It may satisfy some people here, but I don’t think it’s the best thing for the country.”

Meanwhile, the “federal debt ceiling debate is already complicating life for state and local governments.”
