Hello Irene!

Hurricane Irene is moving farther north and we’re just starting to get stronger winds up here on the North Shore in Massachusetts. The storm has been downgraded to a tropical storm but it is still packing a wallop and just getting started in my area. My neighbors said there’s a power outage already in downtown Amesbury, MA..

In the midst of this hurricane that is still battering the Eastern Seaboard causing billions of dollars worth of damage, FOX News is asking, “Do We Really Need a National Weather Service?

As Hurricane Irene bears down on the East Coast, news stations bombard our televisions with constant updates from the National Hurricane Center. — While Americans ought to prepare for the coming storm, federal dollars need not subsidize their preparations.

And Ron Paul has said, “No FEMA response necessary,” to the storm. It’s good to know that President Obama felt vastly different about that as he took charge at the hurricane command center last night:

It will no doubt be a long day for New Englanders. I’ll update when and if I can…

    Things are a bit messy here, but in my neighborhood we’re very blessed to still have power. The worst of Irene came through 2:30-3 am in the morning.

  2. We’re faring well here too Scott. Still have winds to come but supposedly the rains are dying down.
