Wisconsin Political Analyst: Expect Walker Recall Attempt In Nov. 2012

They may have fallen short of their goal to retake control of the state senate, but Wisconsin Democrats and their allies likely are to press ahead with their next recall target: GOP Gov. Scott Walker, according to a political analyst in the Badger State. Although Wisconsin Democrats ousted two state Republican lawmakers this week in recall elections, they fell short of the three required to regain a majority in the state’s senate. In all, six Republican lawmakers were in...

On the African Famine

MSNBC’s Photo Blog has a post by a photo journalist covering the recent drought and famine hitting the Horn of Africa. The journalist Francesco Zizola, notes in his post, “souls of privileged citizens are hardly touched by these photographs.” Sadly Zizola is correct. I missed the news of the drought in Africa, because like so many American’s I was caught up in the debt ceiling drama and other recent political dramas and fiascos. There’s a world of news happening around...

A Personal Note: Carpal Tunnel Surgery Scheduled

After many, many years of on and off suffering from carpal tunnel I am scheduled for surgery on Friday August 12, on my left hand. In 4 months I hope to have the right hand done as well. It’s a long over due treatment that I hope will make a major difference in my life. I had been very reticent for years to have the surgery, and not having health care insurance for a few years also compounded the...

Coming Up Short In Wisconsin, Dems Eye Battles Ahead

Although Washington progressive and Democratic groups put a lot of skin in the Wisconsin recall game — and ultimately came up short in that effort — they say they are not giving up, seeing more fights coming up. Although Wisconsin Democrats succeeded in recalling two state Republican senators Tuesday night, they failed to pick up the three seats required to take control of the state senate. They came tantalizingly close, however, as a third Wisconsin Democrat, reportedly came within...

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) will select a “co-chair and two other panelists, as required by the debt...

Doom Tune from the Bugging Burgling of June – Redux

Nixon was using the IRS, the FBI, the CIA, and all the rest to try to create a police state. He had hated Stalinism -- which, face it, is NOT "communism," but rather that good old authoritarian "I am Alpha Male, what I say goes" that has been humanity's habitual form of governance since the first ape-man beat the first ape-woman into submission -- had hated Stalinism for so long that he had become what he hated.

Pedaling With A Purpose: Armstrong and Kerry Ride in Pan-Mass Challenge

Senator John Kerry rode in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge this weekend for the ninth time. He crossed the finish line with Lance Armstrong at his side. When asked whether he had kept pace with Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France champion, Kerry replied: “I’d say I did not keep pace with Lance. I would say Lance kept pace with me.’’ Massachusetts Republican Senator Scott Brown, “who has six Democrats already vying to take his seat next year, finished a couple hours after Armstrong...

Wisconsin Money Laundering?

... you begin to see how the Kochtopus attacks: when one tentacle is stymied, another takes up the fight (see Club for Growth Wisconsin mutate into Americans for Prosperity -- the latter of whom, ironically, DON'T get any Charles Koch Summer Fellows). When they are uncovered (as with Americans for Limited Government in 2006), they vanish in a cloud of ink.
