Disgusted

Obstructionist members of Congress have put us in a fine freakin mess… We still have millions of people out of work. The economy is stuck in low gear and to some of us it feels like a double dip recession. The stock market is tanking. And now we’ve lost our AAA credit rating. Take some Pepto and then read the full S&P report in PDF format. I’m beyond disgusted. Sphere: Related Content

Good Klan Fun With Faux Nation

The argument that somehow the President's birthday party has either brought the nation to its economic knees, else is causing "Rome" to burn is both absurd AND racist, but of course in the Faux Nation, ONLY Blacks can be racists, so it's OK. OK?

Capitol Idea: It’s the Republicans’ Economy Now

For having said, famously, that his biggest goal is to make Barack Obama a one-term president, Sen. Mitch McConnell has a funny way of showing it. Forcing the president and congressional Democrats to essentially capitulate to their budget-cutting demands, McConnell and his fellow Republicans actually have ended whatever hopes they may have had to hang the continuing bad economy around Obama’s neck next year. By insisting on no tax-revenue increases at all, and by protecting those special-interest tax loopholes...

You have a credit card with a $25,000 limit. Because you have a good job, you only have $6,000 on the card, and routinely pay the monthly statement and a little extra on the principal. But then you decide you need a 52-inch high-def LCD TV screen to go into your “man cave,” and your family rightfully decides they need a vacation. So, you add a few thousand to the credit card. But, it’s all OK since you just...

The Astroturf on Lambeau Field

Most importantly, however, note that it's a FOR THE BUCKS operation. They make their living putting on these political stunts, and their track record indicates that, while they are partisan, mostly, they're opportunists. (If you go to the old Russo Marsh + Rogers website, you'll get the "Tea Party Express" store.)

Senator: Still Time To End FAA Shutdown

There remains time on the legislative calendar this week to end the ongoing shutdown at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a top Democratic senator contends. Some 4,000 FAA employees — and tens of thousands of private-sector workers employed on agency projects — have been furloughed since last month, when a short-term authorization for the agency expired. Although essential personnel, such as air-traffic controllers, are still at work, other FAA staff are currently on the unemployment line. If Congress fails...

Osama Wanted Dead. No Detainees Wanted. Why?

Was this the right decision, the best way to most effectively defeat al Qaeda and the terrorists who are threatening the very existence of nations around the globe?

Top Economist: Deficit Deal ‘Will Do Great Harm to Our Nation’

The deal struck by Washington policymakers to cut federal spending in order to raise the federal debt limit and thereby avoid a federal default will harm the U.S. economy at a time when job-creation ought to be their top priority, according to a top Washington economist. Moreover, policymakers ought to end the legislative debt-limit mechanism that triggered this “needlessly manufactured crisis” in the first place, says Lawrence Mishel, a nationally recognized economist and president of the Economic Policy Institute....
