I’ve been watching the Occupy Wall Street movement grow with awe, as so many have. Last night my 67 year old cousin called and said “let’s go to New York!” Oh how I wish I could. But I am there in spirit every day…
More labor unions entered into the fray today giving “a high-profile boost to the long-running protest against Wall Street and economic inequality Wednesday, with their members joining thousands of protesters in a lower Manhattan march. Across the country, students at several colleges walked out of classes in solidarity.”
Greg Sargent reported in today that Former Senator Russ Feingold has endorsed Occupy Wall Street saying:
“I’m really encouraged by what I’m seeing. People around the country are finally organizing to stand up to the huge influence of corporations on government and our lives. This kind of citizen reaction to corporate power and corporate greed is long overdue.”
Today The Hill Reports:
Democrats are rallying behind the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, with several lawmakers endorsing the protests in New York City that have begun to spread to other cities.
Several liberal House lawmakers endorsed the protests Wednesday, and the leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus said they had been inspired by demonstrators who have been arrested and pepper sprayed during altercations with police.
In Los Angeles today City Councilmen toured the Occupy L.A. encampment giving support to the protestors.
Sadly, tonight in New York City more violence from NYPD… Here’s the latest video of “White Shirt” cops vs. protestors at Occupy Wall Street:
Support Occupy Wall Street. Wall Street’s avarice and greed brought this to their own door steps and I think it will be some time before this movement packs up and goes home.
