Politico reports this important story, knowing full well its implications. Let’s see how GROUND-BREAKING this EARTH SHATTERING news is:
Obama plays 100th round of golf as president
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 6/17/12 12:39 PM EDT
CHICAGO — President Obama is spending Father’s Day in his hometown playing the 100th round of golf of his presidency.
After a late night at the wedding of senior adviser Valerie Jarrett’s daughter Laura, the president was out of the house just after 10 a.m. Central time for a round with frequent partners Marty Nesbitt, Eric Whitaker and Marvin Nicholson, the White House trip director.
Mark Knoller, CBS News’s longtime keeper of presidential data, says it’s Obama’s 100th round since taking office. And the president picked a nice course — he’s playing at the historic Beverly Country Club the southwest corner of the city.
There it is. Short and sweet troll-bait. Let’s see what the haters and cynics have to say about the President of the United States of America playing golf on Fathers’ Day:

Wonder if they’d have said that about Ike? (No: They Like Ike.)
Great that CNN has linked to Politico, so they can get their slice of the troll pie. Increasingly, the entire cess-pool of the American Collective Obnoxious can be seen in its comments, as anywhere else that doesn’t moderate comments strictly. Sad that in order to have free speech and civil debate we have to censor vehemently and judiciously, just to PRESERVE free speech from the internet’s Vandals and Visigoths. (Anybody remember when the Freepers took down the English protests against the war? Simply by clogging their internet connections to disrupt organization and communications?)
This illustration has nothing to do with
the story. It was merely added for atmosphere
and to keep you reading, like, say, Facebook ads.
Ladies and germs, the classic he said/she said political reporting of Politico failed them today. They forgot to add this “balancing” statistic:
During 2 terms as President, Bush took spent all of part of 477 days at Camp David, on retreats and made 77 trips to his Crawford Ranch, in Texas, where he spent all or part of 490 days, on his Ranch. The total number of days of vacation or retreat President Bush took, while in office over a period of 8 years was 967 days, or 32% of his total time in office …
YES. It IS tu quoque, but if it’s a legitimate fallacy for the Rightie Minds, then it’s legitimate for the Non-Rightie Argument against the Rightie Mind.
But when Bush spends one day in three on vacation, it seems rather churlish for his defenders to now screech their displeasure that the black foreigner has played 100 rounds of golf in three years and some change. (Not enough, alas.)
But what is truly churlish is dropping this story (whether by Mark Phillips of CBS formerly reputable News or Politico’s copy-and-paste journalist) knowing that this was EXACTLY the blue meat that the red blogs would eat with a spoon.
Hope you got lots of clicks, Politico.
Happy Fathers’ Day.
You motherless children.
