Commence Out Cry: Kerry To Sign UN Arms Treaty Opposed by Senate, NRA

The wingnuts and gun enthusiasts aren’t happy about this… The Hill reports today that “Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to sign an arms trade treaty opposed by the Senate and the gun lobby as early as Wednesday.”

The wingnuts are already crying foul…

This treaty is already dead in the water in the Senate, and they know it,” said Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services. “The Administration is wasting precious time trying to sign away our laws to the global community and unelected U.N. bureaucrats.”

A majority of Senate oppose the treaty because it covers small arms, making ratification impossible in the short term.

Good for Kerry to move forward with signing this treaty which is ”only aimed at regulating international sales to prevent terrorists and other rogue actors from getting their hands on weapons.”

The super paranoid NRA nuts are calling it a “U.N.-backed gun grab.” They need to get a grip. The U.N. isn’t coming for their guns, nor is Secretary Of State Kerry or President Obama. Simmer down NRA and go away.

You should read the treaty completely before you comment on the NRA! This is just the beginning of a mass attempt to control the nations weapons and ammo consumption. Sounds like a tyrannical government. The whole reason America was founded is to be independent of a tyrannical Queen. Now we are on the way to having King Obama?
Sounds like your the “wing nut” Loose and looking to get screwed!

  3. Thanks for sharing. You shouldn’t assume I haven’t read the treaty.

The second word in your piece here is a childish name. If you have any hopes of your opinions being taken seriously, you should try and make a point without resorting to elementary school rhetoric. I’m constantly amazed at the amount of opinion spewed from both sides that includes the juvenile antic. A piece that mentions the public scope of the treaty without also mentioning the hypocrisy of the US signing it while arming Syrian rebels further discredits the writing. This little blog is apparently just a one sided drum thumping forum. Try and be a bit more objective.

Thanks for sharing. I believe Kerry is right to sign the treaty. I made that clear.

Ever hear of fast and furious. Obama/holder responsible for selling guns to drug dealers.
Good thing they committed that crime before the treaty was signed. Such hypocrites. Like health care act. It’s supposed to be good for us but not them.
Hussein Obama always runs his mouth about FAIRNESS. How is it fair to have so many exemptions for his cronies? The law should apply to ALL, including government workers and union employees.
