The Party of Lincoln is Dead! Long Live the Party of TRUMP

I don’t know about you but I’m sick and tired of Republican leadership, conservative television pundits, and radio talk show hosts ALWAYS reminding us that over 150 years ago President Abraham Lincoln was a member of the Republican Party. Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan said on CNN when asked by the host about the acts of violence and school children taunting and threatening their classmates since the election of President-Elect Donald Trump, “they’re not Republicans we are the party of Lincoln and we don’t condone any acts of violence, America is a country of inclusion.” Sounds good right, party of Lincoln the man that freed the slaves. When you take a closer look at our friend Lincoln, he may have had his issues with the institution of slavery, however he never saw black people as his equal.  It was never his original intent to give black men the right to vote. Lincoln felt his only obligation was to allow the black man to simply be, and even suggested to Frederick Douglass once the Negro was freed he should go to Central America or back to Africa. I say this not to cast dispersions against Lincoln, I believe he was just of the mind set of the average white male of his time. He was one of our greatest Presidents, but he was far from the great revolutionary history revisionist try to make him out to be.

What is the Party of TRUMP? It’s the Tea Party, The White Nationalist, The Alt-Right, The White Supremacist and Conservative Suburbia. It’s no longer the party of the business elites. No matter how much they try to fool themselves, the party of big business and fiscal responsibility is all but dead. Trump’s selection of  Attorney General, Jeff Sessions & Chief Advisor Stephen Bannon is a clear sign to all minorities in America; if you thought you had a voice in American politics because we elected a black man to the white house twice, think again. African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Muslims, LGBTQ communities you all will be pushed back into the margins of society. In their minds back in your proper place.

The Washington Post estimates 34% of federal government employees are minorities. Many conservatives believe that number is too high. Conservatives will cut into that number and use a tried and true Republican talking  point of making the federal government smaller to cover their actions. Organizations like Black Lives Matter, The Sierra Club and The Center on American-Islamic Relations will be treated like enemies of the state they will be called “Un-American”.  Leaders will be harassed, threatened with lawsuits, and put in jail on trumped-up charges if they  dare challenge the Trump administration. The Party of TRUMP will turn a blind eye to violence against minorities. In the four weeks since the election the Southern Poverty Law Center has officially documented over 900 acts of violence towards minorities. Donald Trump asked his supports in a television interview with 60 minutes to “Stop it”. However, the genie is already out the bottle. Empty words are all you’re going to get from a TRUMP administration. There will be no FBI investigations on hate crimes.

Coal and Gas companies will have free reign with little if any environmental regulations. The profits will be significant and incomes of the executives of these companies will double. Their investors will be ecstatic as their stock goes through the roof. But for those lower level employees there will be very little difference in pay and job creation in these industries will not be significant. In fact, to keep up with production they will ask their current employees to work longer hours for less pay and just be grateful they still have a job. This kind of management is old school Rockefeller and Carnegie style of industrial manufacturing. Labor Unions will be vilified and will take the blame for the lack of job opportunities while being forced into silence.

According to FoxNews.com President-elect Donald Trump’s tax proposals would modestly cut income taxes for most middle-class Americans. For nearly 8 million families including a majority of single-parent households (13 Million Single Families) the opposite would occur they will pay more. Most married couples with three or more children would also pay higher taxes. Analysis by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found, while middle-class families as a whole would receive tax cuts of about 2%, they’d be dwarfed by the windfalls averaging 13.5% for America’s richest 1 percent. I’m sorry folks but a 2% tax cut for families with less then 3 kids is not what I call Making American Great Again! I call it making rich people rich again and again and again! I’m sorry Conservative America your leader has forsaken you and he hasn’t taken the oath of office yet. WELL AT LEAT YOUR SIDE WON! Well again technically you lost by 2 million votes but who’s counting. After all minorities will be put in there place, political opposition will be sued and/or prosecuted, hard working people will be unemployed, and their only crime would be working for the Federal Government as post office workers, administrators or government contractors you know the REAL people that make America work.

Enjoy your 2% tax cut! Go buy some gum!

  1. Well said David! It is going to be a long 4 years.

  2. David Melton says:

What’s really funny is hearing House Speaker Ryan and other Republicans refer to Republicans as the Party of Reagan and the Party of Lincoln in the same sentence. That’s funny, because one believed in the states governing themselves (Reagan), and the other the federal government running things (Lincoln).
So,which is it, REPUBLICANS … are you the party of Lincoln or Reagan? Do you even know your party’s principle beliefs?
