George Bush came through with a 17.4 billion dollar loan to GM and Chrysler. $13.4 billion will come from TARP funds in December and January. $4 billion will be available in February assuming the Congress authorizes the second half of the original $700 billion rescue package.

[Here's the White House 'Fact Sheet' on the loan package. [...]

On the heels of GM closing 20 US plants for a couple of weeks and Chrysler shutting down all plants for a full month, President Bush has said, and Dana Perino, Press Secretary confirms, that Bush is considering an ‘Orderly’ bankruptcy for the Big 3. In a very detailed AP report,  Bush admitted there were [...]

$1 Per Gallon Gas Next Year?

Is greater relief at the gas pumps finally in sight? If Gulf Oil CEO Joe Petrowski is correct it could go down to $1.00 a gallon or lower by next year. I for one am hoping he’s right. I just filled my tank up here in rural Maine yesterday paying $1.99 a gallon. A further [...]

Obama Is Earning High Marks

The latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll has found that Barack Obama is earning “high marks” with the American public for his “handling of the transition and his choices for the Cabinet.”
Even with the bleak outlook over the economy and the news that we are officially in a recession, the USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows that “[M]ore than [...]

White House pressures mayors on greenhouse gas emissions

He may be the lamest of lame ducks, but George W. Bush is still doing immense damage. Consider:
As the Bush administration prepares to issue its ruling on whether to limit greenhouse gases, it’s sending out a message to some of its allies: Tell us how much you don’t want us to regulate emissions linked to [...]

Bush Embarrasses The USA Once Again. Doesn’t Shake World Leaders Hands (video)

This is too sad for long comment. You wonder why Tom Friedman today suggested moving up the swearing in to Thanksgiving? He didn’t have this video in mind but if he’d seen it he would have puked.

First let me preface by saying that I’ve spend 29 years full-time, that is full time when I wasn’t working one campaign or another, in the real estate profession either as a salesperson/consultant or as a mortgage broker. I’ve lived through 4 recessions. I’ve seen it get bad before yet never have I seen a [...]

Most Unpopular Ever; or, Why Bush Will Not Be Another Truman

A new CNN poll finds that Bush is “the most unpopular president since approval ratings were first sought more than six decades ago,” with disapproval ratings above 70 this year.
Which makes him more unpopular than Nixon… and Truman.
Yes, yes, I know, look what happened to Truman: Vindicated by history, now considered to be one of [...]

Rep. Bachmann Issues Apology Commercial…But Not Really

Rep. Michelle Bachmann screwed the pooch on Chris Matthews Hardball last week suggesting that the press investigate the Congresspeople who were Anti-American. She was also concerned that Obama himself was Anti-American. (Anti-American members of Congress?) That charge started a deluge of donations for her opponent, Elwyn Tinklenberg, of over $1.4 million cash being now used [...]

Credible? Incredible!

There are two astonishing liars out there. One of them lasted for 24 hours. The other remains America’s Sweetheart™. And one wonders: what has happened to the old concept of “truthfulness.” (And of “Truth” itself among the self-proclaimed moral mavens of the bloviating class.)
