Last night Denver and federal authorities announced that three or four people had been arrested on “firearms and drug charges in connection with a possible plot to kill Senator Barack Obama during his speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday night.”
The United States attorney’s office in Denver has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon to discuss its investigation. [...]

A federal grand jury indicted Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska today, on “on seven felony counts alleging that he lied to conceal his acceptance of $250,000 in gifts and services from a now-defunct Alaska oil services and construction company.”

I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the tragedy at a Universalist Unitarian church in Knoxville yesterday. The first paragraph from Knoxville News -Sentinel says it all:

Apparently columnist Robert Novak’s victim is worse than the news first reported. WJLA reports ”a hospital source told ABC 7 News,” that the victim is in “worse shape than first thought” and the WaPo has confirmed:

Conservative columnist and talking head, Robert Novak was cited by Washington, D.C. police this morning “after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette” in downtown D.C. and drove away from the scene in what was seemingly a hit and run.
