The Weekend Reading List

I’ve been laying low today, once again playing catch up with business and rest. Ah, yes rest… Something I never get enough of. Suffice to say running a small business and a blog keeps me very busy and rarely take much time for myself. That said, here’s the Weekend Reading List: The Gallup Daily shows a Clinton upswing in recent days: Clinton 46%, Obama 45%: At TaylorMarsh.com a piece by Paul Lukasiak dissecting the story by “journalist” Celeste Fremon that...

Howard Dean Puts the Pressure On

April 18, 2008 10:09 am
By

Howard Dean is getting a little nervous about the fate of the Democratic nomination and yesterday he turned up the heat in an interview with CNN. Dean told CNN that “he needs superdelegates to say who they’re for – and “I need them to say who they’re for starting now.”” “We cannot give up two or three months of active campaigning and healing time,” the Democratic National Committee Chairman told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “We’ve got to know who our...

More Food For Thought

More food for thought on the “progressive derangement syndrome” paralyzing the liberal blogosphere… Wizbang Blue predicts: Obama’s Political Machine Will Try to Steam Roll Clinton Again: Watch for the Obamatrons and the Obamedia to renew their attempt to steam roll Clinton out of the race with calls for her to withdraw. Their candidate took a beating last night, and had to face questions he hasn’t had to face before. The Machine is up in arms, and will attack Clinton...

California Delegate Caucus: Someone’s Gotta Do It

April 14, 2008 2:53 am
By

Sunday was the day California Democrats chose district delegates to the national convention in August. Yes, I went to my delegate caucus. About a month ago I volunteered to help, naively thinking I’d be sitting at a table signing people in. Well, last Monday night I received an email saying I was responsible for running the 6 delegate CD-14 Hillary delegate caucus (6 being the larger allocation). A couple days later I got a bunch of paperwork and sign-up...

April 9, 2008 10:59 pm
By

Here’s the latest in news about the fight for the Democratic nomination… In California both the Obama and Clinton campaigns are “purging potential California delegates to ensure that only their loyalists vote at the national convention that will crown one of them as the Democratic presidential nominee.” The Obama camp has purged 18 times more delegates than the Clinton camp to the tune of some 900 “potential” delegates purged by camp Obama: Driven by fears that some prospective delegates might...

Why Hillary Clinton Should Be Winning

April 7, 2008 10:37 pm

Sean Wilentz backs up what was said a few days ago by Wesley Little on Rasmussen (see post here): “Under a winner-take-all primary system, Hillary Clinton would have a wide lead over Barack Obama — and enough delegates to clinch the nomination by June.” We’ve been having a few discussions here on The Dem Daily about the Democrats convoluted mess of a system to choose a nominee — Wilentz is on the money: Sphere: Related Content

Many Superdelegates in No Hurry to Pick a Candidate

April 6, 2008 11:56 am
By

In the WaPo today, “Many of the 320 or so party leaders and elected officials who have yet to commit cite a number of reasons: They can’t choose between two good candidates, they don’t want to interfere with the will of voters, and they think the extended contest will strengthen the party.” Let the voters decide… Sphere: Related Content

Steve & Cokie Roberts: Race Trumps Gender, Yet Again

April 5, 2008 4:03 pm
By

In their latest column, “Let superdelegates decide race? Not this year,” Steve and Cokie Roberts argue that 2008 is absolutely the wrong year to let superdelegates decide who is the Democratic presidential nominee. Why? They are the superdelegates, the elected officials and representatives of Democratic Party constituencies who this year are expected to make the difference – to add enough delegates into the column of one candidate or the other to put him or her over the top. But...
