Jill at Feministe explains: Oh for the love of God.  This is really beyond the pale. And really, if the “What election sexism?” Democrats can’t see how over-the-top this is, I don’t really know what to say. Progressives should be better than this. I’m so sick of this sexism crap… Be sure to check the links from Jill: “For thoughts on sexism in the election in general, I refer you to Rebecca Traister and Amanda Fortini.” And: Contact the...

Discernment: Which Candidate has it and why is it important?

April 21, 2008 12:53 pm

Discernment is the quality of being able to grasp what is obsure; the power to see what is not evident to the average mind; the act of exhibiting keen insight and good judgment; the keenness and accuracy of mental vision; the capacity of tracing out minute distinctions. Certainly this is one of the most important qualities of a president. Hillary has it. Barack does not.  It comes from experience. The errors of youth often proceed from the want of discernment. People say...

Hillary is only up by 6 in PA. A win is a win and that means 50%+1. But we need to aim for as big a win as possible. If you can get out of work for an hour, pitch in and make some calls. Let’s do it for Hill, folks! Update: Lest you construe this post negatively, I’d say this is about as good as Obama can hope for. But we definitely need to help out. Update II...

McCain Better Than Bush?

April 20, 2008 10:16 pm
By

Oy… I’m sorry, but I simply can not believe that Barack Obama went there today: “You have a real choice in this election. Either Democrat would be better than John McCain,” Obama said to cheers from a rowdy crowd in central Pennsylvania. Then he said: “And all three of us would be better than George Bush.” Way to go Barack, nothing like undermining the efforts of the entire Democratic party: The comment threatened to undercut Obama’s efforts — and those...

Going With Hillary

April 20, 2008 9:35 am

Tuesday is primary day in Pennsylvania. A new Pennsylvania poll from MSNBC/McClatchy/Pittsburgh Post-Gazette shows Hillary Clinton leading Obama 48-43% and Scott Helman notes in the Boston Globe that “In Pa., late deciders could lift Clinton.” If the pattern of previous primaries and caucuses holds, the biggest procrastinators – those who make up their minds on Tuesday – will probably break for Senator Hillary Clinton. If they side with her again in Pennsylvania, it may help Clinton hold off Senator Barack...
