Via The Page: “Bill Clinton tells NBC’s Portland, Maine affiliate that he is not a “spouse like any other spouse who can defend his candidate” and now knows he needs to be more careful on the stump.” Watch the interview: H/T to Taylor. UPDATE: AP News expands on this story, reporting that Bill Clinton said he “learned a lesson from the dustup over his remarks on the campaign trail — he can promote his wife’s presidential candidacy, but he’s...

Hillary’s Women

February 8, 2008 12:18 am

On Open Left, Matt Stoller has an interesting post about Hillary’s Women. Stoller notes that the Clinton campaign had not really tapped into the online donor mode until now and it “is remarkable” that in “about the last 48 hours” the Hillary Clinton campaign has brought in “around $7 million from 45,000 online donors or so.” Clinton was forced to rely on her real base – the women who love her.  And unwittingly, with her showing in the Super Tuesday states...

Whoppi Goldberg on Why She Switched from Obama to Clinton

February 7, 2008 8:11 pm
By

Via the HuffPo, Whoppi Goldberg explains why she switched from Obama to Hillary Clinton: Whoopi cited Clinton’s statement that she would end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Chalk one up for who was right first… It’s good to see some folks are paying to attention to what both of the candidates are saying and weighing things out. Apparently, watching the video,...

Emily’s List Says: No So Fast!

In the wake of the news that Hillary Clinton had loaned her campaign $5 million and her staff might be going with out pay, Emily’s List sent out a fundraising appeal today for Hillary Clinton. As it turns out Clinton’s staff is not going with out pay, as ABC reported this afternoon. Regardless, it’s time to step up and get involved if you want to see Hillary Clinton become our next president. I was glad to see Emily’s List get...

Join The Movement or Has the Obamamania Gotten Out of Hand

I have written here a few times in recent days about of the hype around the Obama “movement” as he calls it and the fact many people don’t want to “join” a “movement,” they want a leader. In some ways, I have told a few people in conversation off The Dem Daily, the Obama “movement” reminds me of the Dean “movement” in ’04, another movement I was not swayed to join. It’s not that I don’t see the attraction...

Donations Pour In For Hillary Clinton

February 7, 2008 11:53 am
By

Word has it that donations are pouring in for both the Clinton and Obama campaigns, so gloating Obama supporters can step back a few paces, because Team Clinton is raising donations fast and strong. As I reported here earlier this morning (or late last night), “The media and the blogosphere was a flutter on Wednesday about Hillary Clinton loaning her campaign $5 million.” The Clinton campaign had launched a fundraising effort on Wednesday and the word late last night from Taylor Marsh was that...
