Kerry & McCain: Who’s Zooming Who?

March 8, 2008 5:14 am

You know what was funny about John MyFriend’s latest meltdown yesterday on the plane with reporters? Not that he lost his temper, as much as what he was saying was a fabrication. NEW ORLEANS — Senator John McCain fielded a question at a public forum on Friday morning in Atlanta that he said he had never been asked before. Because Senator John Kerry, Democrat of Massachusetts, had approached him about being his running mate for the White House in...

Is Senator John Kerry also “Bush/Cheney Lite”?

March 7, 2008 3:19 pm
By

Early in this presidential race, Senator Barack Obama abandoned his promise to run a positive campaign by labelling Senator Hillary Clinton with the ultimate insult to a Democrat: he called her “Bush/Cheney Lite”. The reason? Only one issue, which he has repeated over and over (in lieu of a real foreign policy debate): that she voted for the authorization of force in 2002, an authorization which was promised as leverage to get UN inspectors back into Iraq, but which...

Clinton Doing Better Than Obama Against McCain

March 3, 2008 4:59 pm
By

Peter Daou, who is Hillary Clinton’s Internet Communications Director and previously worked for the Kerry campaign in ’04 (in the War Room) has post on the HuffPo today that is a must read (and listen). Peter notes in the opening of his post that Hillary is “doing better than Sen. Obama against John McCain — as well as public polls that show Hillary stronger against Sen. McCain in crucial swing states like Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio.”  Peter goes on...

Thoughts on Costumegate

February 26, 2008 12:29 am

Jennifer Rubin noted on Commentary on Monday that Hillary Clinton “delivered (amidst the distraction of costume-gate, which makes me think this was not an official Clinton tactic) a foreign policy address in Washington D.C. today.” (see below) Kudos to Jennifer for getting it. There is no reason why the Clinton camp would thwart a big foreign policy speech. No reason what-so-ever. It’s commonsense 101. How many progressive bloggers missed the lesson from ’04? I certainly did not. Sphere: Related...

It’s The Economy… And So Many Other Issues

February 23, 2008 12:57 pm

In the past few weeks since I announced here that I was endorsing Hillary Clinton, I spent a fair amount of time defending my reasoning. The bottom-line is that I see Hillary Clinton’s positions on the issues as the strongest positions on those issues and I feel she has the experience, the wisdom and the overall capability to push these issues through Congress. She’s proven her ability to work across party lines and get things done in the Senate. I’ve...

Kerry, Biden and Hagel Make Emergency Landing in Afghanistan

February 21, 2008 7:29 pm

NBC News reported a few hours ago that “helicopters carrying three senior U.S. senators made emergency landings Thursday in the mountains of Afghanistan because of a snowstorm.” Sens. John Kerry, Joseph Biden and Chuck Hagel were aboard the aircraft. No one was injured, according a statement from Kerry’s office. The senators and their delegation returned to Bagram Air Base in a motor convoy, and have left for Turkey. “After several hours, the senators were evacuated by American troops and...

Al Gore Has No Plans to Endorse

February 12, 2008 10:54 am
By

It’s that time again… Time to discuss whether Al Gore will endorse, although it’s been made clear in the past that he has no intentions. CNN’s Political Ticker reports today that “two sources close to Al Gore tell us not to expect the former vice president to endorse either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama any time during the primary season,” instead Gore will remain neutral in the role of the “elder statesman in the party” poised perhaps to be...

The Quiz Show on Iraq

February 9, 2008 7:44 pm

Go read “The Quiz Show on Iraq” and take the quiz. It’s an eye-opener and the bottom line is “for any of them (especially one particular candidate) to disingenuously claim to have been consistently anti-war would be more than laughable. ” I’ve said here before that Obama’s “I’m the anti-war candidate” don’t fly with me because, after elected, when “the opportunity to oppose the war on many occassions once in the Senate, he did not. A look at his...
