Acting under a legal requirement to cut U.S. funds to any U.N. agency that recognizes a Palestinian state, the State Department on Monday announced that the United States has stopped funding the U.N. Nobel Laureate Refuses Olympic Torch

There’s been a lot of news about the upcoming Olympics in China and the various protests and calls for boycotts. NPR reports today that “Kenyan political activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai turned down an invitation to participate in the Olympic torch relay in Dar Es Salam, Tanzania.” Listen Here as Maathai “explains her decision and shares insights about recent political developments in Kenya.” CNN has more news on Kenya here.
