This is a strictly personal comment with does not reflect any other person on The Dem Daily. I have to proclaim my increasing disgust at the entire situation on the Gaza Strip. Israel claims it must defend itself. And yes, they’ve had 13 deaths. That’s horrible.

On my personal ranking of the news events of the past 100 years, the top three stories are (1) Hiroshima/Nagasaki; (2) The tearing down of the Berlin Wall; and (3) The current forcing of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into federal conservatorship.

For most of us this is our introduction to Tom Udall’s important campaign in New Mexico. At stake is a Republican seat that we can take and turn Democrat. We need to support this campaign and take another seat to solidify our majority in the US Senate.

Because the former king of pop can do it better than me:
From the early MNSBC treatment of Hillary (initiated, btw, by Edwards and Obama), to mocking her nonexistent tears, to the constant calls for her to quit, to the painting of her as racist, to the absurd f#$%ing idea that Hillary was waiting for the [...]

Via Le Monde, a new society has been discovered in the Brazilian rainforest close to the Peruvian border, largely hunters and gatherers, obviously, by the looks of it, but not nomadic with some horticulture, according to Le Nouvel Observateur. They seem to have never been exposed to the larger world. According to Survival International, there [...]

Oy… I’m sorry, but I simply can not believe that Barack Obama went there today:
“You have a real choice in this election. Either Democrat would be better than John McCain,” Obama said to cheers from a rowdy crowd in central Pennsylvania. Then he said: “And all three of us would be better than George Bush.”

If you plan for 10 years, plant trees.
If you plan for 100 years, educate mankind.

Howard Dean became Chairman of the Democratic National Committee last year and started with an audacious idea. Rebuild the party infrastructure. Although many could see that this could be important, their were plenty who thought it was getting too much priority. I disagreed then and I still do. Today, anyone who is on the e-mail list has received another request to help fund the plan. The goal is to get 5000 on line donors.
