The WSJ reports that Americans have seen 18% of their wealth vanish in 2008. That’s a rather conservative estimate because they go on in the piece to note some folks have lost upwards of 35% of their wealth. I’ve talked to friends who have lost 40% or more in the past few months.
Given this terribly [...]

President Elect Barack Obama broke bread last night with a group pf conservative pundits at George Will’s home. Among the pundits reported to have partaked in the bread breaking were the “Weekly Standard’s William Kristol, New York Times columnist David Brooks, and Charles Krauthammer of the Washington Post.”
Sam Stein of the HuffPo reminds us that [...]

I have to say when I saw this headline from Political, I fully expected it to be a piece about the McCain campaign. You know, something where McCain tells the media that the current and former lobbyists working with his campaign are all “people too.” But it’s not about John McCain… No… It’s about the other candidate [...]

Senator John Kerry is reported to currently be at Massachusetts General Hospital with Senator Kennedy and members of the Kennedy family. Via my contact in Senator Kerry’s office, his press office has released the following statement in regards to Senator Edward Kennedy:
“Ted Kennedy is beloved and respected on both sides of the aisle in the Senate in [...]

Bad news for the Democratic-controlled Congress:
Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.
This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973. The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 [...]

After a humiliating retreat on Iraq funding and with abysmal approval ratings, Congressional Democrats go back to work for a war of attrition with the White House this summer.
Whatever else they do, Democrats should press Sen. Byrd’s effort to overturn the 2002 resolution that sanctioned the invasion of Iraq–for more reasons than one.
Strategically, if they [...]

I was hopeful that not only Democrats would heavily question Secretary Rice today but also some from the other side of the aisle, specifically the outspoken Senator from Nebraska…….
REPUBLICAN Senator Chuck Hagel went on the offfensive often AND early. Quote: “I think this speech given last night by this president represents the most dangerous foreign [...]

I just wanted to pause and thank our old friend Newt Gingrich, that light in the tunnel of political darkness, who once declared that the people of our nation owed it to themselves to elect men and women in Congress that would shake things up. He may be vilified by people on both sides of [...]

By now, Sen. Kerry’s magnificent speech on national security is up on the web, along with a number of color photos of the event and in the news (here and here). No need, then, for me to post that speech again—only to urge people to read that speech carefully, and to look for the video [...]
