On Eve Of Daytona, Gun Control Advocates Push Waltrip, NASCAR To End Silence

A car driven by race champion Michael Waltrip honoring the victims of the Newtown massacre qualified for this Sunday’s 55th running of the Daytona 500, a highly anticipated event watched by 13.5 million Americans every year. The car, fielded by the Swan Racing Company, is #26 in honor of the 26 victims of the Newtown, Conn., schoolhouse massacre. President Obama’s 23 Planned Executive Actions On Gun Control

Via Talking Points Memo, a list from the White House of the “23 executive actions President Obama plans to take to reduce gun violence in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., massacre”: 1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system. 2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system. 3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system. 4.
